A couple of weeks ago we were knocked back on our heels as the Corvette Mach 5, the grand prize in a promotion for the new Speed Racer movie, raced onto the scene. The Corvette Mach 5 is actually a C5 Corvette that has been rebodied in the style of the C2 complete with chrome bumpers and a stinger hood. The Corvette was built by team of Spike TV’s Powerblock series and this Saturday, May 3rd, we’ll actually be able to watch the making of video.
But here’s the rub. I had to search several pages deep just to find out when the “Powerblock” series airs on Spike TV. Turns out that Powerblock runs on Saturday beginning at 11am and is made up of 6 :30 Minute shows with titles like Horsepower TV, Muscle Car and Trucks!. And since none of them have the Corvette Mach 5 in their description, we can only assume that the buildup happens between segments of the shows. So don’t be expecting a full hour of disassembly and reassembly.
I doubt I’m going to Tivo it and frankly I’ve already lost interest. Note to Spike TV. When you promote a series and a special project like the Corvette Mach 5, how about telling people when it will be on? I’m over it. The car was much cooler with the photoshopped Mach 5 logos anyways…
