Video: In the GM Design Dome with the Corvette ZR1

GM has invited several of the larger automotive blogs to visit with designers in the GM Design Dome in advance of its appearance at the North American International Auto Show next week. AutoBlog.com was one of the sites invited and here is the interview they did with Corvette Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennian.

According to AutoBlog, the Corvette you see here is actually a standard Corvette Z06 that the design staff used to test the fit of exterior parts, so its not fitted with its ceramic brakes and that is a LS7 under the hood. Don’t fret though, the real Corvette ZR1 with its state of the art LS9 supercharged V8 under the lexan window will be live Saturday night at the GM style party in Detroit.

I’d also like to add that it would be nice if GM would include a blog dedicated to the Corvette when it doles out these kinds of invitations. In fact, there is a fanatical blogger in Tampa that follows Corvettes and he has a video camera and is willing to travel. Just a thought…
