If you love classic race cars, then you might want to hop a jet to the United Kingdom for this weekend’s Race Retro Competition Car Sale.
The sale, organized by Silverstone Auctions, will take place Friday, Feb. 26 at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.
Included among the many interesting racers for sale is a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray FIA/HTP racer, well known in racing circles and a Goodwood favorite.

The FIA’s World Endurance Championship kicks off the 2015 season this weekend at the Silverstone Circuit in England and a Corvette C7.R campaigned by Larbre Competition will be making its debut in the GTE-AM class.
The C7.R chassis was most recently raced by Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Ryan Briscoe at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2015 where it won its class before it was sold to Larbre. Larbre Competiton is no stranger to racing Corvettes as they previously ran the C6.Rs in the series, which include a win in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Driving in ice and snow is an experience most drivers would just as soon forego.
But, for British journalist Chris Knapman, the experience was “technically challenging” and “at times, just plain scary,” as he recently maneuvered a Corvette Z06 around an ice track at the Laponie Ice Driving school in Sweden, just 50 miles from the Arctic Circle.
And to think, some of us Corvette drivers won’t even let our cars get wet in a rain shower!
