Corvette enthusiasts all around the world continue celebrate the marks 60th anniversary in 2013. Le Corvette Club de France will be hosting a 2 day get together August 31st and September 1st at the La Ferté Gaucher race track in France. For you geography buffs, that’s located between Paris and the Champagne region. Even though the event will be held in France, they’re inviting enthusiasts from around the world to attend.
It’s not every day that someone turns 60, and when that “someone” is the Chevrolet Corvette, everyone wants to get in on the action.
Mid America Motorworks, a long-time supporter of the Corvette, has already started the party for its favorite car, and you don’t even have to leave home to take part in the fun.
It was 60 years ago today that thousands of American’s gathered at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City to witness Chevrolet’s first foray into the world of sports cars. Dubbed the Corvette, the two seat sports car was an instant hit with the public and GM rushed into production the revolutionary fiberglass-bodied car six months later.
Celebrating that milestone today, Chevrolet brought the newest iteration of America’s sports car, the 2014 Corvette Stingray, to New York City where it will be reunited with that original Motorama Corvette at the Waldorf Astoria.
On June 30th, 1953 a white on red two-seat roadster rolled off the end of an assembly line in Flint, Michigan. 60 years later, the Corvette still lives on as the longest running mark in automotive history. On June 27th and 28th, 2013 the National Corvette Museum will be throwing a 60th birthday party to celebrate GM’s halo car.

Here is an interesting Corvette spotted on the Boulevard inside the National Corvette Museum. It’s a 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary package. But as you can see, the Corvette is also wearing the same Indy 500 graphics that the 2013 Corvette ZR1 wore as the Pace Car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing earlier this year in May.

Longtime Corvette Museum supporter Harvey Gluck just picked up his 63rd Corvette and this one is a stunner. It’s a 2013 Corvette ZR1 in Night Race Blue with a 60th Anniversary stripe running down the body. Harvey was presented with the ZR1 at the National Corvette Museum by Corvette Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick.
Corvettes continue to be honored as America’s Sports Car celebrates its 60th anniversary with the 2013 model, with an exciting seventh generation just around the corner, too.
Petersen Automotive Museum is joining right in, with big plans to recognize the Corvette next year, too.
First of all, 20 historic Corvettes and Corvette concept cars will be on display at the Petersen museum from Feb. 27 through March 31, 2013. But that’s not all.
