The National Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park has always promised to deliver a lot of fun for enthusiasts.

The latest excitement is the new Track X program, a winter driving event in an autocross-type environment, complete with coned gates and dedicated start to finish timing – on the museum’s new racetrack.

NCM officials say Track X will be an open event with no classes. “Just run what ya brung,” they say.

The first Track X event is set for Saturday, Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In case of rain, they’ll try again on Sunday, Jan. 11. Officials say they will be watching the weather closely and will try to make a weather call as early as possible for the convenience of participants.

Cost is $75 per car, plus $25 for an additional driver.

You can register for the event that day, from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. CST at NCM Motorsports Park West Track.

They’ve got a few rules, not the least of which is that you must be driving in a track appropriate vehicle (no mini-vans, please, but convertibles are welcome!).

Drivers must have a valid driver’s license, and participants under 18 must have a guardian with them to sign a minor waiver.

You’ll need a helmet (a few are available for rental for $25 daily but participants are highly encouraged to bring their own or you can buy an HJC helmet at the NCM Store), close toed shoes, and long pants.

Finally, please be sure that your vehicle is safe for track use, no loose items, battery and wheels all tight and secured, and no leaks of any kind.
