The 2012 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) show is in now the books and it was another phenomenal event. The 2-day indoor show in Chicago attracted hundreds of the country’s finest Corvettes, muscle cars, and customs. We already teased you with a few show photos on Facebook and Twitter, and now a more extensive show gallery awaits you after the break.
The Corvette selection seemed to be down slightly from last year’s show, but the quality and diversity of the cars remained high.
The Triple Diamond Corvettes shined as the judges poured over them checking for correctness, originality, and cleanliness. Eager owners looked on in hopes of adding to their Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight honors. A one-off gold 1962 Shop Order Corvette was displayed by ProTeam Corvette Sales in the Class of ’62 display while a rare ZR-1 Corvette with 300 original miles on it stood out in the Class of ’72 group.
Vendors like Corvette Central, Adams Polishes, and Mid America Motorworks helped connect customers with the goodies they were searching for. The NCM Insurance team provided free quotes and answered questions throughout the weekend. Dr. Pete Gimenez was present signing copies of his awesome book, Corvette Racing Legends.
In addition to the Corvettes, there were GTO’s, Shelby’s, Cobra’s, and even a display of AMC’s. Our favorite non-vette display this year was the massive collection of 60+ Yenko supercars. We’ve never seen that many Yenko Camaro’s, Nova’s, Chevelles, and Corvairs, and even a Yenko Vega in one spot before. The incredible collection also contained several Corvettes that were either delivered at Yenko Chevrolet or were piloted by Don Yenko himself. You’ll see those gems in a separate photo gallery later this week. Another top notch display was the collection of ALL 6 (of the 6) 1969 Pontiac Trans Am convertibles. A number of “as-found” barn finds were the perfect complement to all of the other spotless show cars in attendance.
The quality of the cars at this show is amazing. Each year the offerings seem to get better and better. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next year. If you have the chance, make it a point to get to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals.
