Corvette Assembly Plant Resumes Normal Operations with Both Shifts Reporting for Work

Wow, what an amazing difference this week has been compared to last. Last Tuesday, we’re were still stunned with the news of a tornado striking the Corvette Assembly Plant which started a fire on the roof! We were glad to hear that no one was injured in the weather event, but the prospect of an extended closure seemed to be in the works.

However, this Tuesday, it’s back to work for both shifts at the plant! We confirmed the news with a plant representative this morning who told us that “Both shifts are resuming operations today!”

The real work started yesterday as the Assembly Plant brought in key personnel and team leaders to begin the restart. As a result of their work on Monday, a total of six new 2022 Corvette Stingrays were completed!

As a Corvette enthusiast who has been following GM for the past 15 years, we are used to seeing our “niche’ model taking a back seat to other GM priorities, but last week it was all about the Corvette.

Threatened with an extended shutdown, GM jumped into action and by marshaling manpower, equipment, and supplies from other construction projects, they are able to make repairs in record time. We hope that plant manager Kai Spande will eventually be able to give us the inside scoop on the required repairs and how they were performed in under a week to get us back up and running again.

Thanks again to all the BGAP employees and staff as well as all of the outside construction and repair crews who made this return to work possible!
