Corvette enthusiasts are always looking for that little extra edge in performance, and Hooker has one possible addition for such a person who just happens to own a new mid-engine Stingray.

The company is offering a cat-back exhaust system – in stock and ready to send to your home – that delivers 10 more horsepower and 10 more lb-ft of torque.

Hooker says its Blackheart exhaust – priced at $1,849.95, including shipping – is “the most affordable kit on the market.”

Of course, lots of C8 customers are checking the box already for the factory-optional NPP performance exhaust upgrade made by Tenneco and available for just $1,195. That exhaust upgrade adds 5 more horsepower and the same level of torque.

In addition to offering double the additional amount of horsepower and torque, however, Hooker Blackheart also tips the scales 34 percent lighter or some 19 pounds.

Blackheart also promises its system delivers strength, longevity, and good looks by virtue of being hand-welded, and comes with a lifetime warranty from Hooker.

The company promises installation will be both easy – by making use of the factory mounting points and having all necessary hardware provided – and economical – by reusing the OEM valve actuators.

Technically speaking, Hooker’s system features mandrel-bent 3″ tubing to maximize flow, 2.5″ tubing through the muffler, and 4″ polished stainless-steel tips with laser-etched logos.

By the way, the part is also said to be “legal for sale or use on emissions-controlled vehicles,” if that’s a concern for you.

Of course, ultimately what it all boils down to for many people is the way the system sounds. You can check it out with your own ears on this video that features a Corvette equipped with the system as it revs up several times and then makes a pass past the camera, valves open and closed.

  1. These are the way to go if you have a non Z51 C8 The sound pop at shift points is cool and with the valves closed the pop is absent. Very interesting

  2. Audio not very special. Can’t hear anything at idle. Sound may be ok but not sure from this.

  3. $1,849.95 is the most these cat back systems should cost. There are a lot of companies that are charging double this price. It seems most of these companies are price gouging the C8 people for these systems.

  4. Wonder of it’s available for non-NPP cars? Also, once again I see no heat shielding in place. Is everybody just going to ignore that? Trunk gets pretty warm as it is.
