[PICS] Yet Another Wrecked 2020 Corvette Stingray Listed for Sale on Copart


The 396th mid-engine 2020 Corvette has traveled just 2,118 miles since the owner took delivery in February.

So much for the value of low-mileage beauties, though.

This once-proud Arctic White Stingray is being offered at auction on Copart with a salvage title now that a crash of some sort left the front end heavily damaged as well as the left rear in tatters.

The car likely is one of the most heavily optioned C8s produced so far, as it apparently listed for $119,500 with the expensive 3LT and Z51 packages checked off. Just think, if it had not been wrecked, it could have been sold at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson for perhaps $150,000 or more.

Copart says the car started and ran at idle when it first arrived at their site in Tampa, Florida, but the auction company makes no guarantee that it still does.

They list the estimated retail value now at $79,591, though we’d be very hard-pressed to pay that. Could you imagine the hit you’d take years from now when trying to resell this car now that it’s been all over the Internet with its front bumper and left rear wheel hanging off? Every future buyer will know the history of this car, thanks to the Web.

It appears this Corvette might be better off serving as a parts car by selling off the two-tone Dipped Natural and Black interior, roof panel, headlights and taillights, and of course the LT2 495-horsepower engine.

On the other hand, perhaps if someone is able to buy the car at a reasonable price (and we don’t really know what we would consider reasonable), he might be able to add a custom widebody kit and new wheels to have a really unique C8.

We first heard about this car from the folks at autoevolution, and they speculate that repairing the car doesn’t make financial sense, given that the dual-clutch transmission might be damaged and the front end has a caved-in AC condenser and radiator.

  2. I seem to recall a post about a white C8 that failed to negotiate a freeway exit ramp and ended up in the middle of a pile of rocks. Maybe this is that C8.

  3. Doug R, that’s what I was thinking also, too bad it was totaled , its priced too high to pirate parts off of for a Hot Rod build and not financially wise to rebuild with a salvage title.

  4. There is an old adage that some people have more horsepower than brains.
    I am NOT saying that is the case with all these C8 crashes, but let’s face it, some people’s brains CANNOT keep up with a car capable of a 0-60 in 3 seconds!
    I can tell you from my own experience, as I have 2 Corvettes; a 1980 L48 4 speed manual, and a 2013 Grand Sport 6 speed manual.
    If I take my ’80 L48 out first for ‘exercise’, and then hop in my ’13 GS for its ‘exercise’, I have to engage my brain. The ’80 is a 0-60 in 7.8 seconds, the ’13 GS is 3.8.
    I don’t take the ’80 out first, now, after my first experience doing that!

  5. Looks like the driver might have broken one or more of the laws of physics. Maybe an unseen parking block at speed! What ever did the damage went under the car diagonally.
    Contacted front right splitter and busted left rear trident wheel! Maybe donuts into a parking block or a curb stone! If this was someone s dream car I hope they don’t loose any sleep over it, because as a loaded 3LT They can get on the 2021 C8 list before the ink is dry on the insurance check!

  7. a guy rolled his 67 coupe on to its roof. we pushed it back on its wheels and off he went,,,,,,,, before the cops came… ran great!

  8. I currently own a ‘15 C7 with the same equipment packages. It is also a “rebuilt title” car and I purchased it out of Ohio, sight unseen. Shortly after buying the ‘15, I ran across a really great deal on a ‘19. I wanted to sell the ‘15, but soon learned that banks and Credit Unions will not write loans on rebuild cars and if the prospective buyer does not have cash, it’s a no-go.
    I have both C7’s now and while I really enjoy the ‘15 Z51 more than the more generic base ‘19, I still must sell the ‘15.
    Two points regarding the original post: the retail value put on the 2020 has absolutely no bearing on what the car will sell for. They go to auction and the insurance company will determine the reserve. I predict this Corvette will sell for around 45-50K.
    Second point: If you buy the car, plan on owning it for a long time and choose your rebuilder very carefully.

  9. I THINK IT IS GROSSLY UNFAIR THAT CARS AND OR TRUCKS THAT CARRY A REBUILT OR SALVAGE TITLE ARE SHUNNED BY BANKS, ETC. AND BUYERS. I’D VENTURE A GUESS AND SAY THAT 99.9 % OF THE TIMES THESE VEHICLES ARE “REBORN” THEY ARE DONE BY COMPETENT AND HONEST BUSINESS’S WITH EXCELLENT CREDENTIALS. IF MY SITUATION WERE DIFFERENT I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO BUY A VEHICLE WITH A TARNISHED TITLE AFTER A THROUGH INSPECTION. LETS SUPPOSE A CORVETTE ANY CORVETTE IS STOLEN AND STRIPPED OF ITS COMPLETE INTERIOR, WHEELS AND TIRES, MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION. HOW OR WHAT WOULD THAT MAKE THIS CAR UNSAFE WHEN (SAFELY & HONESTLY) REBUILT TO PRE STOLEN DAYS ?

  10. I own a rebuilt 2017 C7 . I financed it no problem. I can’t buy a warranty though. Had it 2 years now not one problem with it .

  11. Makes for a dramatic read “good for parts.” But eyeballing the photos this is the most rebuildable C8 presented on these pages. My years of owning a metro area taxi company what I have seen rebuilt in the way for Caprices and Crown Vics would leave many people speechless. If bought at the right price this C8 would offer years fun to a new owner.
