Last weekend the Petersen Auto Museum hosted a tribute to Zora Arkus-Duntov which featured the reveal of the 2020 Corvette Stingray by exterior design manager Kirk Bennion and program engineering manager Josh Holder.

Kudos to YouTuber Speed Phenom for the excellent video. He does a minute of talking to set the scene and then the rest is all Corvette!

Following the reveal of the Corvette Stingray, Kirk and Josh talk for more than a few minutes about their areas of expertise in the 2020 Corvette. Kirk discusses the design of the Stingray from wheelbase to cargo space, and he includes some of their aerodynamic testing as well as improvements to the interior. Josh gave a great overview of the mechanics of the car including the coil-over suspension, 8-speed DCT, and engine component cooling.

During the questions and answer session, the Corvette Team was asked about the long-term servicing of the mid-engine Corvette, if third-party tuning will be available, and more.

Josh does say this about the manual transmission:

One thing I forgot to mention about the transmission is we have what we call double paddle pulls so there’s an up/down shift tap paddle as you guys are familiar with. If you pull both of them and put the transmission in neutral as long as you have those pulled so you can rev the engine up maybe even do a burnout or some other juvenile behavior…its like another way to make the drivers feel more connected to the car getting, the benefits of both an automatic and a manual.”
