CorvetteBlogger Hits the 2020 Corvette Stingray Reveal

To say the last 48 hours have been crazy would be an understatement. I was one of the fortunate members of the media who attended the 2020 Corvette Reveal in Tustin, CA on 07.18.19 and it was one of the most memorable Corvette events I have ever attended.

I left Tampa for California on Thursday morning and arrived 4pm local time. After a quick check-in at the hotel, we were whisked to the Tustin Hangar #2 at 6pm for the beginning of the Reveal Event.

The Tustin Hangars are huge structures. Outside was the Corvette Corral, hospitality tents, food trucks, C8 Corvette merchandise sales, and the Corvette Motorsports trailer featuring the C5-R, C6.R and the C7.R.

At 7pm we gathered at the main hangar door and with a bell ringing the doors opened up to allow us inside. Greeting visitors were examples of all seven generations in White while in the middle were CERV 1, CERV 2 and CERV 3.

I staked out my location near the top of the risers as I wanted to share a POV showing the whole stage with the lights to capture the entire experience.

Like most we talked too, the NASA intro was interesting but it went on a little too long. But once the lights went down and the soundtrack of the LT2-powered Corvettes filled the Hangar as the three 2020 Stingrays rolled into the viewing area.

GM President Mark Reuss drove the Torch Red Corvette on stage and spoke before handing it over to Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter. Apparently, as Reuss exited the 2020 Corvette, the windshield wipers were activated. Tadge explained that the building is so huge, that it was actually raining on stage which necessitated the use of the wipers. Good save Tadge and that would be the only glitch in an otherwise steller presentation.

Tadge does a great presentation as always and we learn some amazing specs about the car including a 0-60 mph time under 3-seconds, a nearly 1g on the skidpad with Michelin All-Season Radials, and features over 15 cubic ft of storage space.

As a preview of what’s to come, the video screens showed both the C8.R (still in camo) on the track as well as a few still images of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible. The presentation ends with Mark Reuss inviting everyone on stage to take a closer look at the new 2020 Corvette.

Below is our video sharing the event from both outside the hangar before moving inside and taking our seats. I am also presenting nearly 100 photos of the reveal event including many pics of the various options, chassis cutaways, interior options, and more.

  1. Great pics! That cutaway car was pretty trick. Just out of curiosity, are the CERV’s privately owned nowadays?

The CERV III was always my personal favorite, and my C8 color choice is split between the Rapid Blue and Metallic Gray.

Again, thank you for the coverage, and keep up the great work

  2. A couple of the pics showed the paper renderings and they brought me back to 2009 with the Corvette Stingray Concept which blew me away back then (and still does today). Glad the engineers looked at that concept as well for the curves over the front and rear fenders.

Truly enjoyed your collection of pics and videos, Keith! I’m a very tactile person (I have to see it in person to get a real feel for the car/product) and I’m very sure the Corvette will look even better in person than in pictures or video. I can’t wait to see it then!

  3. Thank you Keith for all the coverage leading up to and the day of the release. And everything else! Look forward to Corvette Blogger every day!

Your efforts do mot go unnoticed!

  4. Keith, your presentation of the reveal was fantastic. I almost thought I was there. The pics that accompanied the video were very enlightening and entertaining, so much better than the Facebook coverage. I sent a link to all of our club members so they could also enjoy the reveal. You should know that I check my email several times a day for your messages. You are doing a fantastic job keeping the Corvette community informed. Keep up the great work.
