[VIDEO] Dave McLellan's 2020 C8 Mid-Engine Corvette Seminar from Corvette Funfest

One of the seminars provided this weekend at Mid America Motorworks’ Corvette Funfest was one dedicated to the 2020 C8 Mid-Engine Corvette that was hosted by former Corvette Chief Engineer Dave McLellan. Dave’s tenure as Chief Engineer began in late 1974 following the retirement of Zora Arkus-Duntov and he would lead the Corvette team until his retirement in 1992.

Money and budgets were fairly tight during McLellan’s reign as chief engineer but he his team was able to do the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Indy concepts as well as CERV III. In this video, he acknowledges that he is on the outside of the program looking in, but that he can offer some opinions on the 2020 ME based on experience as well as guesses.

McLellan talks about the specs of the $860K Porsche 918 and what the Chevrolet engineers need to do meet some of those same benchmarks on the Corvette. Following the presentation, Dave opens up the floor to questions from the crowd.

A huge shout-out to our friend Jeremy Welborn who took the video!

Dave McLellan, retired Corvette Chief Engineer, presented his speculation on the coming Mid Engine Corvette at Funfest in Effingham, Illinois, on September 22 and again on September 23, 2018. Video clips that Mr. McLellan included in his presentation with regard to the C4 Sledgehammer, C4 ZR-1, and the record-setting Nurburgring Porche lap have been edited from this video.
