It just seems like yesterday that the National Corvette Museum opened, but it will actually be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019!

And that calls for a special celebration.

The 6th National Corvette Caravan will be held Aug. 28-31 next year, and registration is now open for the big event by going to www.corvettemuseum.org.

“For 2019, we mark the 25th Anniversary milestone and focus on the diversity of the people that Corvette has brought together with a look back on the Museum’s history while looking forward to the future!” the Museum said.

If you’ve never been a part of the Corvette Caravan, we highly recommend it. I had the honor of serving as the Captain of the Georgia Caravan in 2014, and there’s nothing like being in a long line of Corvettes to get you excited about America’s Sports Car. As an example of how time marches on, my son Chris was just 15 years old in 2014 but had the thrill of driving our 1997 Corvette in the Caravan up the interstate from Georgia. By the next Caravan, he’ll be 20 years old and looking forward to selling C8 mid-engine Corvettes in his job as a salesman for Carl Black Chevrolet in Kennesaw! He also had the thrill just a few days ago of selling his first new C7 – a triple black convertible!

With all the talk about that highly anticipated C8 mid-engine Corvette, can you imagine how exciting it will be in 2019 when the ME ‘Vette could actually be on display at the Caravan? If the Internet rumors prove correct, enthusiasts might even be just days away from actually being able to buy one by then!

Yet another reason to attend the Caravan next year was also just announced – the veteran rock group Jefferson Starship will be playing a free concert for registered attendees to help kick off the festivities at the Museum’s Amphitheater on Thursday, Aug. 29. Also planned on that day are a special opening ceremony and fireworks show.

Other activities during the 25th anniversary celebration include scenic self-guided road tours, seminars, video presentations, Corvette raffles, open membership meeting, 10/15/20/25 year recognition, and ambassador meeting.

The annual Corvette Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet is set for Friday, Aug. 30, and we’re sure there will be some impressive names, as always, joining the prestigious group of recipients who have made big contributions to America’s Sports Car since 1953.

The activities come to a close on Saturday, Aug. 31 with a “Party Like It’s 1994” mixer featuring food, music, and fun.

Motorsports Park Touring Laps will be offered Tuesday through Sunday the week of the Caravan, with AM and PM laps Tuesday through Saturday and AM laps only on Sunday.

Pre-registration ends on-line on July 11, 2019 at 5 p.m. CT, and the cost is $30 for Lifetime Members, $40 for Members, and $65 for Non-Members. Pre-registration includes a hard card badge, lanyard, event pin and dash plaque, and commemorative event program.

You will still be able to register at the Museum on Monday, Aug. 26 starting at 8 a.m., but the prices climb to $35 for Lifetime, $45 for Members, and $70 for Non-Members.

Be sure to tell all your fellow Corvette enthusiasts about the Caravan! They won’t want to miss it!
