Motor Trend: C7 Corvette ZR1 Could Have More than 700 HP

The 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe has only been out for a month and now the rumor mill is back in full swing with discussions about the performance variants of the C7. Motor Trend has suggested that the next generation Corvette Z06 may have up to 600 horsepower while the King of the Hill Corvette ZR1 could be pushing 700 horses or more.

[VIDEO] Helicopter Crashes After Racing a Corvette ZR1 on Top Gear Korea

We first showed you last year the violent crash of a helicopter that was racing a Corvette ZR1 as part of a stunt for Top Gear Korea, the South Korean version of the popular British show.

Well, last weekend the BBC released more footage of the stunt that featured the show’s Kim Jin Pyo trying to outrun a retired U.S. military Bell AH-1 Cobra copter.

Edmunds Dyno Tests the 2012 Corvette ZR1 and the 2013 SRT Viper GTS

We already told you that the folks over at Edmunds.com recently matched a 2012 Corvette ZR1 against the new 2013 SRT Viper GTS in one of their Burnout Super Tests.

The Corvette dominated that competition, laying down a record-setting black stripe of more than 514 feet, nearly 100 feet longer than the Viper managed.

Now, Edmunds decided to take the 2013 Viper to the MD Automotive Dynojet chassis dyno to see what it could do.

If an “ordinary” ZR1 isn’t enough for you, you might want to check out this ZX-1 that’s been hopped up to a whopping 860-hp by Bennett Coachworks out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This particular monster pictured at Automobile Magazine will be displayed in the lobby of Brembo’s North American headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan before its new owner – Datanational Corp. CEO Paul Greenstone – takes possession.

2013 Corvette ZR1 Beats Out 2013 SRT Viper for Lap Record at Laguna Seca
