Here’s some eyecandy from our friends at D2FORGED who hit us up on twitter yesterday to share these pics of a Pewter C5 Corvette Convertible riding on their CV2 concave wheels. I’ve always maintained that the wheels guys have the best photos and D2FORGED doesn’t let us down with their latest photoset.
Wheels
The guys at D2FORGED sent over these pics from their latest photoshoot. The subject being a Cyber Gray Corvette Z06 with D2FORGED MB1 wheels. I just love the contrast that black wheels provide against Cyber Gray and the way the small touches of red trim on the lug nuts and center cap accent the red calipers.
How can you not pull for a company based in a place called Horse Cave, Kentucky?
Kentucky Chrome Works, which has been operating in that city since 2009, is the exclusive chrome plate wheel supplier for the Chevrolet Corvette and recently acquired $3 million in funding for expansion and working capital from BizCapital, the small business lending division of Advantage Capital Partners.
If there is one aftermarket segment for Corvettes that really understands the importance of photography to its business, it’s the custom wheel market. But the adage of “a picture says a thousand words” just isn’t true in this case as we could only muster one word “damn!” as we scanned through this photo gallery of D2Forged Wheels mounted on this Black Corvette Z06.
The Corvette Team continued their roll out of changes and updates to the 2012 Corvette at the Corvette Museum’s C5/C6 Bash. During this morning’s slide show of what’s new for the 2012 Corvette, we saw a new aftermarket wheel called the Torque 2. The wheel will be available from dealers through the Genuine Corvette Accessories catalog.
Good things come to those who wait and about fifteen minutes following the close of the National Corvette Museum, these production 2012 Z06 Corvettes were found parked in the front lot. Each features the new lighweight aluminum cup wheels in both black and Machined Face. The Supersonic Blue Z06 with the Black wheels are sporting the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.

I like a good contest as much as anyone so check out this awesome give-away from the guys over at the SmokinVette.com Corvette forum. They have hooked up with Vossen Wheels to offer three sets of wheels to the smokinvette members that post photos of their cars and tells the best stories on why their Corvette could use some wheel pimpin. Details of the contest are after the jump.
While rally wheels were standard equipment on the 1967 Corvette, there was an optional wheel offered for the final year of the Sting Ray. RPO N89 was designated as “Cast Aluminum Bolt-on Wheels” and 720 buyers selected the pricey option, adding an additional $263.30 to the invoice. Fast forward 40-some years and now an original set of Kelsey Hayes sells for big bucks. How big? How about $20,000!
