Police and fire rescue in St.Louis responded to an accident in the early morning hours of June 25th found a stolen red C6 Corvette had crashed into a Boost Mobile cell phone store.

1963 Fuelie Corvette Barn Car Discovered in an Abandoned Auto Garage

Fifty years ago, the new 1963 Corvette Sting Rays were rolling off the assembly line at the Corvette plant in St. Louis. One of those Corvettes was VIN #10863 which was a Riverside Red 360 hp Fuel Injected Corvette Roadster.

According to the story, the Corvette stayed in town where it was sold by Big Four Chevrolet in St. Louis to man who owned an auto repair business in neighboring East St.Louis, IL. The new owner ordered the Corvette while his wife was pregnant and it arrived for delivery just about the same time she gave birth to twins.

[VIDEO] Corvette Assembly Plant Workers Talk About Moving from St. Louis to Bowling Green

St. Louis Today has an interesting article and an accompanying video about former St. Louis General Motors employees who transferred to Bowling Green in the 1980′s to keep their jobs assembling the Corvette. The transition from St. Louis to Bowling Green wasn’t particularly smooth for the transplanted UAW members as GM had promised new jobs to local Warren County residents. But many of those jobs failed to materialize as over 900 workers from St. Louis took advantage of a relocation offer and moved to Bowling Green with the Corvette.
