Highly Documented 1963 Corvette Z06 to be Offered at Mecum Kissimmee


If you’re looking for a 1963 Corvette Z06 to add to your collection, you’ll have to look very hard to find one much better than this example that will be available at Mecum’s Kissimmee Auction set for Jan. 15-24.

The car’s history can be traced back to the original owner in Texas, a sportsman racer who used it extensively in SCCA competition in the central U.S. and Midwest.

It’s just one of 24 frame-off restorations of Corvettes that McCluskey has done.

One of the most iconic Corvette designs of all time is the 1963 Split Window Corvette Coupe. 1963 was the first year for a fixed roof coupe for Corvette and it was also the only year that the rear window was separated into two. It is sought after by collectors everywhere and always generates a crowd when a special one is available for sale.

And when we say special, its no wonder that collector John Justo had this ’63 Split Window as the crown jewel in his collection. An unrestored original with a mere 5,500 miles on the odometer, its also the winner of the most prestigious awards in the Corvette hobby.

Here’s another rare Corvette taking part in the January auction frenzy next month. This rare red on black 1963 Corvette Z06 out of collector Rick Davis’ stable is one of the 199 built that year and will traverse Mecum’s red carpet Saturday January 26th around 2:40pm eastern time. It’s completely unrestored and has claimed Bloomington Gold and Survivor awards as well as claiming NCRS Top Flight and Chevy Vettefest honors.

If Rod’s name rings a bell, it’s because Saboury was also the man behind the World’s fastest street Legal 1963 Corvette drag car which we featured just last month.

But a couple of guys named Dan Linden and Tom Hahn are quickly putting a halt to that kind of thinking.

They’ve constructed the Mud Slinger, a 4×4 atop a gigantic set of tires and sporting the look of a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe.
