[PICS] Corvette Racing's C7.Rs Running Private Test at Sebring

We heard that the Corvette Racing team was in Sebring for a private testing session this week and now pics have emerged showing the C7.Rs in camouflage on the familiar blue/white circuit in Central Florida. It’s amazing how much the race cars resemble the production versions and I sure can’t wait to see what they can do in their inaugural race at Daytona next month.

Fast Phil Currin Inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame

“Fast Phil” Currin used his savvy brain to become one of the steadiest Corvette racers of the 1970s.

He paid just $1,900 for his red 1963 split-window some 47 years ago. Now 67, Currin and his Corvette – nicknamed “Giantkiller” when he made a habit of beating newer, flashier cars – made an appearance at the Hall of Fame’s 40th anniversary at Sebring in March.

It seems that where ever the 2014 Corvette Stingray goes, there’s an unveiling. Last weekend in the Corvette Corral tent at the 12 Hours of Sebring wasn’t any different.

With Corvette Chief Engineer beginning his discussion about the next generation car, Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles and Corvette Assembly Plant Manager Dave Tatman pulled the cover off the Cyber Gray Corvette Stingray Coupe to a huge round of applause (and a few tears) from the enthusiasts in the crowd.

The 61st Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is this weekend and the race is shaping up to be one of the best GT battles ever! Corvette Racing fans were spoiled over the last few years with the “Track to Street” series that gave enthusiasts an upclose and personal look at the people and the cars over the course of the last two ALMS and Le Mans seasons. With three races having already been run in 2012, and no “Track to Street” videos, thinking was that the series was no more.

One of the highlights of attending the 12 Hours of Sebring are the seminars put on by the Corvette production team. Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles made the trek from Detroit and brought down several Corvettes to show off to the faithful in the Corvette Corral including the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary Package.
