Sales Report

Corvette sales are holding steady according to the latest sales report from General Motors. Deliveries of Corvettes in August hit 1,135 units which was 64 cars less than July 2010′s 1,199 sales. Year to date, sales are up 52.1% over August 2009′s dismal 746 Corvettes sold. In fact, August 2010 marks the third straight month of increases over 2009′s deliveries. However, last year at this time, the cash for clunkers program was in full swing which heavily impacted the sales of Corvettes and other cars not covered by the program. For the calendar year, 8,689 Corvettes have been sold which is a decline of 5.7% from 2009′s 9,210 Corvettes sold.

GM released the sales figures for July this morning and for the first time since 2006, we have two consecutive months of growth in Corvette sales. While June 2010′s sales increase was a paltry 0.6%, July 2010 showed better results with a 19.5% sales increase over July 2009′s sales. Last month 1,199 Corvettes were delivered, 233 more than July 2009′s Corvette sales. For the calendar year to date, sales are 7,554 Corvettes delivered which is now just -10.8% off the 8,464 Corvettes delivered during the same time period last year.

GM released the sales figures for June today and the report shows Corvette sales holding steady with 1,405 deliveries. This is a decrease of just 23 Corvettes over May 2010′s 1,428 Corvettes. However, if you recall our analysis of May’s numbers, you’ll remember that deliveries were the highest since September 2009. So the fact that Corvette sales were nearly identical to May is good news. Want even more good news? Calendar year sales shows an increase of 0.6% over June’s 2009 1,396 deliveries.

May 2010 Corvette sales report was released today by General Motors and the good news is that deliveries are at their highest level since September 2009. 1,428 Corvettes were delivered in May compared to April 2010′s 1,089 Corvettes the month prior. Corvettes haven’t sold this well since the 1,585 Corvettes sold in September 2009. Compared to a year ago, sales are off -13.1% with 1,643 Corvettes sold in May 2009 and calendar year to date sales are down -18.9%.

GM’s monthly sales report shows 1,089 Corvettes delivered in the month of April. That’s the largest amount of sales in five months and the first time this year that sales have broken the one thousand mark. The number is down from last year’s 1,407 by -22.6%. Year to date, Corvettes sales are down -21% with 3,522 deliveries in 2010 vs 4,459 in 2009.

GM reported March sales of America’s sports car set its best mark in three months with 955 Corvettes delivered. That mark is 331 more than February and 101 more than January. We’re glad to see the figure moving upwards but calendar year to date sales (Jan-Mar) are still -20% down from the same time period a year ago.
