road test

Car & Driver magazine is, and has been for many years, one of the top car magazines, with a history of colorful characters (David E. Davis and Brock Yates spring to mind) and outrageous comparison articles (Pontiac GTO vs. Ferrari GTO and the GMC Syclone vs. Ferrari 348ts, to mention just two). They never seem to pass up a chance to tip over the sacred cows of the automotive world.

We weren’t too surprised then when we heard of their latest, and maybe the ultimate, comparison test — a stock 2014 Corvette Stingray vs. the arctic blast of old man winter. This was not just a run-of-the-mill cold start test. You see, C & D’s editorial headquarters are in beautiful downtown Ann Arbor, Mich. and last Friday Michigan was the coldest state in the country. Ann Arbor had an overnight low of -30°F, which was just shy of the -44°F low at the North Pole!

[SPOILER ALERT] C7 Corvette Stingray on Top Gear Tonight

Last week we shared the trailer for the upcoming episode of Top Gear which features a Velocity Yellow C7 Corvette Stingray. If you want to wait for the episode to air tonight at 8:30 pm ET on BBC America, then feel free to move along. As the show already aired in the UK, there is a recording of the episode on YouTube showing Top Gear co-host Richard Hammond putting the Stingray through its paces and comparing the car to the Porsche Cayman GTS. But that’s not all that happens. The Stig gets his chance as well and we’ll have his course time after the jump.

[VIDEO] Jay Leno Reviews the 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible

Amazing.

That seems Jay Leno’s favorite word to describe how he feels about the 2015 Corvette Z06 as the popular comedian, retired Tonight Show host, and car fanatic gets to see, touch, and drive a pre-production model of the Chevy supercar in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.

“Man, this thing is fast!” he says during his rip-roaring drive along a curvy, hilly California road with Chevy product specialist Shad Balch.

[VIDEO] Motor Trends Drives the 2015 Corvette Z06

The 2015 Corvette Z06 was introduced at the 2014 North American International Auto Show back in January which seems like a lifetime ago. But on Monday, a bevy of auto magazines finally released their long anticipated reviews of the most powerful and track capable Corvette that Chevrolet has ever produced.

One of reviewers of the new 650 horsepower super car was Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago who filmed the experience for MT’s Ignition webcast which appears on their YouTube channel.

Yesterday we posted a video of several Corvettes Z06s at Road Atlanta and while many will end up at the track now and then, most will be driven on the street. Here’s an Arctic White Corvette Z06 hitting the streets!

The Corvette Z06 is just at home with casual driving on the streets as it is on the track. Here’s a 2015 Corvette Z06 in Arctic White with the Z07 Performance Package cruising around on the streets.

This Forgiato Widebody Corvette Stingray Convertible we saw at SEMA is packing 750 horsepower thanks to its supercharged LT1 V8. The $150K Corvette will soon be sent to its new owner in Japan, but first its taken for a ride on the streets!

After the appearance factor of the Corvette had gotten its final touches we sent it over to the guys at BH Factory to add a few horses to the American beast. Watch as the 750 horsepower Widebody Vette takes over the streets with its undiscovered looks and roaring sound.

[VIDEO] German Girl Reviews the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for Fast Lane Daily

The new Corvette Stingray has won over at last part of a tough audience.

The German-accented Sarah Sauer of The Fast Lane Daily submitted this video of her recent experiences with a 2015 Torch Red Stingray coupe on the roads of Germany.

“I have to tell ya,” she says. “I’m in love with the new Corvette.”

We’ve been following both Car and Driver and Edmunds.com as both sites have been keeping their readers regularly updated on the ins and outs of owning a 2014 Corvette Stingray.

Car and Driver recently came out with an update on their long-term test car – a 7-Speed Manual Z51 Coupe – and unfortunately they’ve encountered a few issues that hit at the reliability and everyday driveability of the new C7 Corvette.

Listen to the sound of this Stingray as it makes its way through a car meet-up and then onto the streets.

Riding around in our friend Stangkilr’s C7 Corvette with a new F1 A Procharger kit, the pressure relief valve is LOUD AS HELL so we were driving around showing off a little, it’s hard not to smile the entire time you’re driving this thing!
