Students at Lincoln Tech Restore a C4 Corvette

Keeping young people interested in Corvettes has long been a goal of many enthusiasts.

Mid America Motorworks and PERFORMANCE CHOICE are doing their part not only to build that kind of enthusiasm about America’s Sports Car, but also to help students learn important skills that will be helpful in their quests for jobs.

Students at Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis recently used products from Mid America to restore a C4 Corvette, and you’ll be able to see the great job they did, in person at next year’s FunFest in Effingham, Illinois.

When is a car more than just a car?

How about when it once belonged to the first man who walked on the moon?

That’s right, a 1967 Corvette once owned by Neil Armstrong – known for his “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” – is on its way back to being carefully restored, thanks to new owner Joe Crosby. Crosby has commissioned a team of experts, led by respected automobile preservation activist Eric Gill, to lead the project, which could take years because they want the job done right since its owner was such an important part of world history.

A 1969 Corvette is providing a chance for a father and son to come closer together as they work side by side to restore the classic Chevrolet.

Jason Tueller, 21, and his 53-year-old dad, Shayne Tueller, say the restoration project is also providing them a chance to heal after the unexpected death last year of Jason’s sister, Jessica Tueller, 25.

Students Help Restore a 1961 Corvette Roadster

A retired California leader put his educational background to work in the restoration of a 1961 Corvette convertible he and his wife bought in 1981 for $7,000.

Jay St. John retired two years ago after serving 12 years as superintendent of the Sahuarita Unified School District and decided it was finally time to restore his collector car.

He decided to ask Sahuarita High School automotive instructor Bryce Bond if he and some of his students would be willing to help in the restoration of the car.
