Pennsylvania Man Gets the Car and the Girl at the National Corvette Museum

Well, this lucky fellow got the Corvette – AND the girl!

Mike Basile of the Philadelphia area had been dating Stacy Sulima for eight years but kept putting her off when it came time for marriage. Their running joke was that they were in “penalty time.”

Explained Mike: “We had been dating for seven years and Stacy was like, ‘now I’m eligible’ but I told her no, it’s like soccer. You don’t know when penalty time is going to end.”

It’s always great news when you hear that customers are finally getting their hands on a new or special special edition Corvette.

It was back in April 2015 that the Corvette Team first unveiled the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition at the National Corvette Museum’s Bash Event. Now we’ve come full circle with the first R8C Museum Delivery of the special edition Z06.

The NCM’s latest newsletter featured Lifetime members Ron and Jessica Grove of Mohnton, PA and their brand new Corvette. The 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition they picked up was one of the first 10 of the commemorative C7.R Editions available and one of five to go to the NCM for R8C customer deliveries.

We’ve known Ron Grove personally now for a while as he is an active follower of the CorvetteBlogger twitter feed. He’s also a huge fan of Corvette Racing so we are sure that was one of the main reasons he jumped to buy the new special edition car.

We reached out to Ron to congratulate him on the car and he replied “Awesome Z06! A huge step change from my C6 Z06!” That we can imagine! Congratulations again Ron and Jessica and we hope you enjoy your new 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition!

The ultimate experience for a Corvette enthusiast would have to be taking delivery of their new car at the National Corvette Museum.

Knowing how crazy we Corvette fans are about our favorite car, the NCM started the R8C museum delivery program in September 1995 where customers could order a Corvette from their dealer and then pick it up at the Museum, right across from the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

Well, needless to say, the program has been a smashing success. In fact, today the Museum celebrated quite a milestone – welcoming their 10,000th participant in the Museum delivery program!

Taking delivery of a new Corvette Stingray through the National Corvette Museum’s R8C Delivery Program can be a very memorable experience. We’ve seen grown men act like kids in a candy shop as they are handed the keys to their new rides. And speaking of kids, the Museum just hosted one of the cutest new Corvette deliveries we’ve seen that is guaranteed to turn a kid into a Corvette fan for life.

When Kevin Helmintoller donated his 2001 Mallet Hammer Corvette Z06 to the National Corvette Museum in late 2013, never in a million years would he have believed that the car would be lost a few months later in a catastrophic accident. But on the morning of February 12th this year, the ground gave way under the Corvette Museum’s SkyDome and swallowed eight Corvettes, the first being Helmintoller’s donated Z06.

When it comes to Corvette enthusiasts, they don’t come much more enthusiastic than Jack and Dor DeLong.

They’ve always made it clear that owning a Corvette is all about the memories they can make and share with others, so naturally they’ve been a major supporter of the National Corvette Museum. As Lifetime Members, they’ve donated money, bought bricks, and even “purchased” three acres at the soon-to-open NCM Motorsports Park.
