Jim Harbaugh, coach of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers has been named the official pace car driver and will lead the 33 Indy Cars and their drivers to the Green Flag this Sunday afternoon.
We saw the spy photos earlier this week of the Corvette Stingray working out at Milford and now Chevy has made it official with the announcement that the 2014 Corvette Stingray will serve as the official pace car at the 97th running of the Indianapols 500. The “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” happens on Sunday, May 26th.

Autoweek is claiming that the 2014 Corvette Stingray will be the pace car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing and they say they have the spy photos to prove it. The photos show a specially-equipped Laguna Blue 2014 Corvette Stingray with safety lights testing at the Milford Proving Grounds.
Now that the calendar has officially flipped over to spring, it’s time to shift your Corvette shopping into high gear. Auctions America will be offering almost 40 Corvettes as part of their 550 car docket this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Included in the bevy of available vehicles are a Motion Performance-built C3, a low mile 1978 Pace Car, and the very last Ron Fellows Z06.
Here is an interesting Corvette spotted on the Boulevard inside the National Corvette Museum. It’s a 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary package. But as you can see, the Corvette is also wearing the same Indy 500 graphics that the 2013 Corvette ZR1 wore as the Pace Car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing earlier this year in May.
As presenting sponsor of the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise, Chevrolet celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Corvette by showcasing a special timeline featuring milestone models of America’s Sports throughout its storied history.
The Corvette timeline was segmented by the six generations of Corvettes and the board behind the cars listed the significant developments that occurred during those years. Most of the Corvettes featured in the timeline came from the GM Heritage Center but there were also a lot of 2013 Corvettes on display as well.
