Baseball Fans Disappointed in Chevy's award of a Colorado instead of a Corvette for the World Series MVP

Last night I watched Game 7 of the World Series which saw the San Francisco Giants crowned World Champions after a 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. But the real action happened during the Chevrolet post game show when Chevrolet Zone Manager Rikk Wilde presented Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner with a Chevrolet Colorado. Rikk was very nervous during his presentation of the keys and the Washington Post describes his appearance as battling “a cardiac arrest”.

With his nervousness very apparent and repeatedly glancing at his notes, Wilde went off-script and stumbled upon the greatest Chevrolet tag line since “The Heartbeat of America” in describing the Colorado by saying “It combines class-winning and leading, um, you know, technology and stuff with, uh, WiFi powered by OnStar.”

Immediately, #TechnologyandStuff and #ChevyGuy were trending topics on twitter.

Chevrolet Awards a Corvette Stingray Convertible to Baseball's All Star MVP Mike Trout

That noise you heard after the All-Star Game Tuesday night was the sound of young Corvette enthusiasts practicing on their hitting skills.

Who could blame them after the Most Valuable Player of this year’s game, the Angels’ Mike Trout, won a new Stingray for his outstanding performance?

Trout – who doubled, tripled, drove in two runs, and scored a run to lead the American League to a 5-3 win – actually had his choice of either a Stingray or a Silverado full-size pickup during the MVP award ceremony, but naturally the 22-year-old standout picked the latest rendition of Chevy’s popular sports car.

No Corvette Stingray for the Super Bowl MVP This Year

One of the coolest prizes in all of sports is the awarding of a Corvette for being MVP. Over the last few years, Corvettes have been given to Super Bowl MVPs Eli Manning and Joe Flacco, as well as baseball’s Mariano Rivera who won Major League Baseball’s All Star MVP last July.

But sadly, no Corvette will be offered this year to the Super Bowl MVP. Instead, Chevrolet has officially confirmed to us that they will be offering the games most valuable player a new Silverado High Country pick up truck.

Last night at the Major League Baseball All Star game at Citi Field, the Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera did what he’s been doing for the last 15 years – closing out games. Entering the game and taking the mound in the 8th inning to the tune of “Enter Sandman“, the reliever shut down the National League and helped the American League win the mid-summer classic for the first time since 2009.

For his efforts, Mo Rivera was awarded the Ted Williams MVP award and takes home the keys to a Lagnua Blue 2014 Corvette Stingray.

Remember that story about Beyonce doing the Super Bowl halftime show with the 2014 Corvette Stingray? Well, that didn’t happen.

What did happen was the red 2014 Corvette Stingray was on the field during the post game celebration but it got zero coverage by CBS Sports. And despite a tweet from Corvette’s John Fitzpatrick confirming it was the Red Corvette that was in the house, there has been no announcement from Chevrolet regarding the MVP award.
