[VIDEO] Another Look at George Talley's Stolen, Recovered and Now Restored 1979 Corvette

Last week at the GM Heritage Center, Detroit resident George Talley got the first look at his restored 1979 Corvette after General Motors graciously went to work on the car for the veteran in advance of this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise.

The Corvette will be part of Chevrolet’s display at the Woodward Dream Cruise, which is officially billed as the world’s largest automotive event.

We’ve been following the feel-good story of George Talley and his stolen 1979 Corvette. If you remember, George’s 1979 Corvette was stolen 34 years ago and last summer it showed up in Mississippi. GM’s Mark Reuss heard about the car and after seeing George on the evening news, decided to get involved and had the car shipped back to George’s Detroit home.

Mark Reuss, GM’s top product development manager and the owner of a 1954 Corvette, will have the honor of driving the 2015 Corvette Z06 Pace Car for the Chevrolet Dual races on Detroit’s Belle Isle this Saturday and Sunday. The Chevrolet Duals are the next events part of the Verizon IndyCar Series which is sharing a weekend of racing on the Belle Isle street course with the TUDOR United SportsCar series.

Mark Reuss had the honor of talking about the new C7 Corvette when it was unveiled to the world last year.

It’s good to know that he likes classic Corvettes, too.

In fact, the GM head of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, was in Royal Oak, Michigan this week for the Woodward Dream Cruise, and he drove his 60-year-old 1954 Corvette to the annual event.

GM's Reuss Confirms the C8 Corvette is Already in Development

During an event last week to promote the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, General Motors global product manager Mark Reuss addressed the crowd and talked about some of the issues facing the automaker in the wake of a series of recalls and an ongoing investigation into faulty ignition switches.

Being the Global Product Manager, Reuss also made a few comments about the future of the Corvette that will make any crossed-flags fan happy.
