In a video posted on Automotive News, GM’s North American President Mark Reuss responded to several questions posed from dealers, one of whom asked about the rollout strategy limiting allocations of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray to a select group of 900 dealers instead of opening it up for all dealers.
General Motors North American President Mark Reuss will drive the 2014 Corvette Stingray pace car at this weekend’s “Indy Dual in Detroit”. The Indy Dual in Detroit races include the Grand-AM and IndyCar races on Belle Isle this Saturday and Sunday.
On Wednesday afternoon at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet held its press conference to show off its new performance car lineup. When GM’s North American President Mark Reuss visitied Bowling Green in May to announce the $131 million in upgrades to the Corvette Assembly Plant, he said in his speech that the C7 Corvette with be “completely different”. That statement has set off a number of speculative reports about the C7, from Autocar still talking about a mid-engine design while the Detroit Bureau breathlessly opined about GM developing a 3.0-litre turbocharged V8. According to a story by TheDetroitBureau.com, one of the engines that General Motors is planning on offering in the C7 Corvette is a European-style turbo V8 that will be slightly larger than 3 liters in displacement. This would mark a turning point for the company which has traditionally offered high-displacement V8s in the sports car. The turbocharged engine is expected to woo the hearts, minds and wallets of European performance car buyers who are usually drawn to the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini.
