It’s the middle of May and that means its time for the annual Corvette Beach Caravan and Car Show. For the last 33 years, Dorthan, Alabama’s Circle City Corvette club caravans down to Panama City Beach, Florida for a weekend of Corvette fun and camaraderie. Special guests for this year’s show will include the 2014 Corvette Stingray, Corvette exterior designer Kirk Bennion and NCM director Wendell Strode.
Tom Peters and Kirk Bennion spoke to a packed house at the 2013 NCM Bash about designing the exterior of the new 7th generation Corvette.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray made its West Coast debut at the big 60th Anniversary Corvette Celebration at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles a couple of weekends ago, and there for the occasion were several Corvette notables, including designer Kirk Bennion.
Bennion took a few moments to talk with a reporter from the L.A. Times to discuss his efforts on what is just the seventh generation of the 60-year-old sports car.
Remember those teaser videos GM put out in advance of the 1.13.13 reveal? Chevy has released a new Corvette Stingray video on youtube and if you were paying attention, you would have seen some of that video was used in the first video teaser called CONCEPTION which dealt with the exterior design and aerodynamics testing. Now you can see the entire video which indeed shows the C7 Corvette Stingray.
Since no one can buy a C7 Corvette any time soon, how would you like to have the next best thing sitting in your driveway before too long?
This week, the National Corvette Museum is raffling off a 2013 Night Race Blue Metallic ZR1 that even has a little more than the customary bling to it since it was the personal car of Corvette Exterior Designer Kirk Bennion. And you won’t have to wait long to find out if you’ll be picking it up – the drawing is set for Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. Central Time.
At the 2014 Corvette reveal in Detroit, we were talking with Corvette’s Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennion about the new car. He was holding the front license plate holder and wanted to show us how those who live in a state that mandates a front license plate would affix it to their C7 Corvette.
On Saturday morning, October 20th, Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and Corvette’s Exterior Designer Kirk Bennion spoke at the Corvette Corral at Petit Le Mans. Tadge emphasized that the C7 is a totally new Corvette while Kirk Bennion spoke about the design and characteristics of the C7 Corvette logo that was unveiled earlier in the week.
Members of General Motor’s Corvette Team once again came to Carlisle, PA for the annual Corvettes at Carlisle Show and gave their annual “What’s New with Corvette” seminar.
Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter started off with the walk-around before turning it over to Dave Tatman, the Corvette Assembly Plant Manager. Also talking 2013 Corvettes were Harlan Charles, Corvette’s Product Marketing Manager and Kirk Bennion, Corvette’s Exterior Design Engineer. The Seminar took just a little more than 20 minutes to cover the latest and final Corvette models of the C6 era but it was well worth it and very informative to all those that were there.
