At the Chevrolet Media Preview for the 2013 SEMA show in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to talk with Corvette/Camaro’s Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick. We spoke about the 3 new Stingray Concepts, 2014 Corvette Stingray production and we asked John about the rumors of the one year wait for the Z51 option.
Back in June, the Corvette Team unveiled the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Coupe at the National Corvette Museum. The special launch edition coupes are all Laguna Blue with the 3LT Brownstone Interior and a Black Stinger hood graphic and 500 will be produced and allocated to dealers.
In our interview with Corvette/Camaro Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick last Friday, we learned that once the Corvette Stingray Convertibles start production, 500 Convertible Premiere Editions will be built for dealers as well.
We’re beginning to get more of the background behind the changes, controversial to some traditionalists, to the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
The new rear treatment, for example. Had Chevy stuck with the round tail lights that date back to 1963, “research showed that people who were not Corvette loyalists would look at the car, especially the rear end, and they would think the car never changed,” said John Fitzpatrick, Chevrolet’s marketing manager for the redesigned Corvette. “They think it is the same car from 20 years ago.”
On Friday afternoon at the National Corvette Museum, Corvette Team Members Harlan Charles and John Fitzpatrick pulled the covers off of two cars to reveal the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Ediion. The Laguna Blue 3LT Brownstone Corvette Coupes will be specially numbered and limited to 500 examples.
Callaway Corvettes have a long history with Chevrolet’s sports car.
To commemorate that history that goes all the way back to 1987, Callaway’s Dealer Program Manager Chris Chessnoe gave key members of the Corvette engineering, product management, and production staff a copy of a new book by Reeves Callaway.
Longtime Corvette Museum supporter Harvey Gluck just picked up his 63rd Corvette and this one is a stunner. It’s a 2013 Corvette ZR1 in Night Race Blue with a 60th Anniversary stripe running down the body. Harvey was presented with the ZR1 at the National Corvette Museum by Corvette Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick.
