Hot Rod Magazine recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the big block Chevrolet Mark IV engine with a world-exclusive dyno test of one of the 427 Mystery Motors built by Smokey Yunick.

The 427 Mark II Mystery Motor isn’t actually part of the legendary Mark IV family, which debuted in 1965, but you can definitely consider it the missing link between the 348/409 and big-block Chevy engine families since it has characteristics from both.

A Look Back at Hot Rod Photographer E. Rick Mann's 1954 Corvette

Hotrod.com has a great story on its site about a true Corvette pioneer – none of that sissy trailer queen stuff for Eric Rickman.

He worked as a photographer for HOT ROD magazine from 1951 to 1992 and did a great job covering the hot rodding world back in those early days.

HOT ROD shared the story of Rickman’s beloved 1954 Corvette that definitely didn’t live a pampered life – but lived a full one before going out in a blaze of glory – literally. More on that later.

[VIDEO] Hot Rod Magazine Destroys a C4 Corvette

Hot Rod Magazine has a feature coming out later this year in which they take a C4 Corvette and show you how to make it outrun a new Corvette for dirt cheap. To help promote the story, they released a teaser vid on the Corvette Forum which shows the hot rod staff literally tearing and cutting apart a 1985 Corvette. Big mistake according to the C4 Corvette owners who have chimed in against the gratuitous destruction of their favorite sports car.
