[PICS] The Great Hall at Bloomington Gold 2013

Last weekend marked the 4th installment of Bloomington Gold’s Great Hall. The 4th class of honorees was one of the best yet. The Corvette inductees included the legendary 1963 Grand Sport, the first big block, and the mighty 2009 ZR-1. The people and organizations category featured the godfather of the Corvette, the founder of Carlisle Events, and the Flying Dentist among others.

1961 Corvette Gulf Oil Race Car a No-Sale at Mecum's 2012 Kissimmee Auction

The 1961 Corvette Gulf Oil race car was one of the centerpieces of Mecum’s 2012 Kissimmee auction and it drew massive attention when it hit the auction block Saturday afternoon. Bidding on the Grady Davis Gulf Oil-sponsored Corvette was fast and furious at the beginning but eventually stalled at $850,000 and the car went unsold. The reserve was undisclosed and the auctioneer only said that it would take “more”.

Terry Michaelis of ProTeam Corvette compiled a great listing of the ten most significant Corvettes that sold during the last decade. Terry would know, having personally bought and sold more Corvettes than just about anybody else during that time frame.
