General Motors released their monthly figures this morning for January’s new car deliveries which showed 2,261 Corvettes were sold. In direct comparison, only 908 new Corvettes were sold in January 2013. The January 2014 figure is the lowest number of Corvettes delivered since last September when the new C7 Corvettes started shipping and the dip in sales is most likely a combination of the plant being closed for the holidays as well as the winter weather that covered much of the United States last month.
GM Sales Report
General Motors released their November Sales report earlier this week and Corvette sales are remaining steady. In November 2012, a total of 1,104 Corvettes were sold. This is 21.3% more than the 910 Corvettes sold during November 2011. For the calendar year to date, 12,841 Corvettes have been sold between January-November 2012. This is 5.9% better than 2011′s Corvette sales of 12,126 during the same months.
General Motors released the July 2012 sales report this week and the data shows 987 Corvettes were delivered during the month. This is a huge decline from June 2012 where 1,475 Corvettes found new homes, however it was somewhat expected with the extended July shutdown at the assembly plant.
Comparing July 2012 sales to July 2011′s number of 1,291 Corvettes sold, deliveries are off a whopping -23.5%. For the calendar year to date, a total of 8,009 Corvettes have been sold which is pacing -2.2% off of 2011′s CYTD 8,187 sales figure.
On Friday, General Motors released their monthly sales report for May 2012 and it shows that 1,219 buyers took delivery of a new Corvette. Despite sales being down -6% from May 2011′s number of 1,304, this a very solid sales figure which includes deliveries of the very first 2013 Corvettes. For the calendar year to date, Corvette sales are pacing slightly behind 2011 (-0.9%) with 5,547 Corvettes delivered in 2012 vs 5,597 Corvettes in 2011.
