The opening seminar at the 2013 National Corvette Museum’s Bash Event was the C7 Corvette Chassis Development with Mike Bailey and Jim Mero. Bailey talks about the design and engineering aspects of the new chassis while Mero’s focus was test driving to tune and refine the driving experience.
Over the last week, a few more videos showing the 2014 Corvette Stingrays testing on public roads have surfaced on YouTube. We’ve already posted a couple of these to our Facebook page but wanted to share them with our regular blog readers as well. Since its inception Corvette has been known for showcasing new and innovative technologies. From the 1953′s fiberglass body to the C3′s fiber optic light monitoring system to the more recent Magnetic Ride Control systems Corvette continues to set the technological pace for GM. The C7 follows suit by using an aluminum frame and more stealthily, a new Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wire to control the hidden rear hatch vent.
In the latest installment of the 2014 Corvette Stingray preview videos from Chevrolet, the focus is on the engineering and specifically the aluminum frame that is now produced in the new body shop at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green.
We managed to get our hands on these never-before-seen videos shot during testing of the first generation Corvette. The videos just discovered in the GM Media Archives show a very early Corvette prototype undergoing a series of evaluations at the Milford Proving Grounds and include a cameo by Zora Duntov. Read on to be one of the first people in a very, very long time to view the video.
