It’s time for Throwback Thursday where we feature vintage photos of Corvettes. Here we have two beautiful icons from the 1960s. The first is obviously a 1969 Corvette Stingray with a wild custom paint job that makes us wish it was in color. And secondly, the mainstay of automotive events is Miss whatever-the-name-of-the-dragstrip.
We’re starting this week off with a burnout featuring a 1965 Corvette Coupe on a dragstrip in the Estonian city of Haapsalu. It’s obvious that this Corvette made an impression as we counted no less than four different youtube video of the coupe laying down rubber and launching down the strip for its quarter mile run. We don’t know the times that were put down, but the Christmas tree tells us the Sting Ray is the winner.
It’s new versus old in this video of an Atomic Orange C6 Corvette Z06 racing a 1973 Corvette Coupe down the strip. Obviously modified, the C3 Corvette gets the slightest of jumps on the Z06 at the start but that 505-horsepower LS7 kicks in and it’s neck and neck down the straightaway. Who wins is anyone’s guess. You’ll have to watch after the jump.
