The need for speed is especially strong for young teen drivers.
Now, Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz., is giving these young men a chance to drive fast under controlled conditions, hopefully keeping them safe from harm.
One such driver Friday night was 16-year-old Clay Armstrong, who drag-raced his first car – a C4 Corvette that reached speeds of 130mph in 12 seconds – with his mother’s blessings.
Hennessey builds some of the meanest cars under the sun and now they’ve gotten their hands on the new C7. Uh oh. It probably won’t be too long before it has seven trillion (or maybe just a thousand) horsepower. But below is video of a quarter-mile run with the C7 as it was delivered to them – bone stock.
Here is a video that will make you feel good about owning a Corvette. This modified supercharged Z06 with 700 horsepower lines up against Sweden’s Koenigsegg CCXR with just over 1,000 horsepower for a 1-mile drag race. Both cars seemingy get off to a slow start thanks to a bunch a wheel spin, but the Z06 finds traction first, jumps out in the lead and never looks back.
RM Auctions had the pleasure to sell off a private collection of automobiles in Saturday’s Classic Muscle and Modern Performance sale in San Diego, California. The collection was heavy on Pontiac GTOs, Corvettes and other classic muscle cars along with a nice mix of modern performance cars including an AMG tuned Mercedes-Benz and several BMWs. Two of the Corvettes that garnered much attention at the no-reserve auction were 1969 L88 Corvettes which sold for a combined $560,000.
RM Auctions is set to offer two distinctly different 1969 L88 Corvettes at their “Classic Muscle & Modern Performance” auction in San Diego, California on June 19th. Rarely do these high performance Corvette surface for sale and when they do, they tend to be snapped up rather quickly. And because this is a no-reserve auction, you can guarantee they will both be sold.
