The #63 Corvette was shown parked on the side of the track at 07:00. Fehan says crank case pressure alarm went off indicating a major problem with the engine. Calls it a terminal issue with the engine. Corvette Racing confirms in tweets: Terminal mechanical issue on 63 Corvette, Garcia stopped on track going into Indianapolis, End of the race for No. 63 at Le Mans.

Fehan on #63 Corvette’s retirement: “Our first engine problem in 11 years at Le Mans. No indication leading up to it.”

Corvette Racing: Magnussen Takes 2nd Place at ALMS Long Beach

Jan Magnussen proves again why he is the best closer in the ALMS. At the halfway point of the American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, Magnussen left the pits in 6th position and battled all the way to finish in 2nd place, just four seconds behind the class winning #45 Fancy Lizards Porsche driven by Pat Long and Joerg Bergmeister.

Corvette Racing Ready for the Streets of Long Beach

2008 Corvette C6.Rs on the Streets of Long Beach

Following a less than stellar outing at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Corvette Racing is ready to rebound this weekend as the ALMS comes to the streets of Long Beach. The race around the 11-turn 1.986-mile temporary track is a 100 minute sprint and teams will only have a couple of hours of practice time on the track before the race on Saturday afternoon.

In addition to the hood from the #4 Corvette C6.R that was sold for $3,000, several other parts from the race cars were auctioned by Corvette Racing’s Doug Fehan and Ambassador Ron Fellows at the Corvette Corral at the 12 Hours of Sebring. The money raised was donated to Motorsports Ministries, an organization offering non-denomination services at the track since 1985.
