If the luxurious new C7 interior on the way this fall has given you a case of “leather envy” and you still love your C6, then you might want to think about contacting a company called Carlex Designs for an upgrade of your current Corvette.
One such car has already been envisioned by the company, which says the owner of this C6 coupe asked for a nice toned interior, “something that would suit a middle aged gentleman who enjoys casual driving in his lovely Corvette.”
Each August Corvettes at Carlisle features some of the best Corvettes in the country. Thousands of patrons flock to eastern Pennsylvania to overdose on all things Corvette. One of the main attractions this year will be a rarely seen 1963 Corvette coupe which was modified by custom car guru, George Barris just after it was delivered new.
The C6 Corvette ZR1 may be in its closing months of production, but that doesn’t mean it still doesn’t have some life left in it.
For example, a few days ago, Japanese tuning house RK Design unveiled a custom ZR1 for the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon.

For the guy that wants the great looks and curves that late C3 Corvettes are known for, but still wants to maintain that “I can go anywhere” mentality that a four-wheel drive vehicle offers no matter what the road conditions are, I present to you this 1980 Corvette 4×4 that was recently spotted for sale on Craigslist.
Corvette enthusiasts are pretty serious about America’s sports car, but car customizer Mark Towle really takes his love for his favorite car to a whole ‘nother level.
You see, when he was a child, Towle watched the famous Japanese cartoon show Speed Racer religiously. “I’ve seen all 53 episodes,” he says, “including one that was never aired; it was supposed to be the first episode of the next season, but the show got canceled.”
All grown up now, as the owner of his own car customizing business, Towle’s living a childhood dream – making his living by building replicas of Speed Racer’s car, the Mach 5, which start about at $72,500. Not bad for the ultimate boy racer, huh?
Some people love the open-air fun of a C2 convertible but like the appearance of the coupe better.
Now thanks to a Virginia company, they can have their cake and eat it, too.
In the late 1970′s the 3rd generation Corvette was languishing thanks to an aging platform and new government emissions and fuel economy requirements. Eager gearheads would do just about anything to make their ride stand out from the crowd. Enter customizer Les Dunham and the Corvette Caballista. His Dunham Coach Motor Car Company built just 50 Caballistas between 1977 and 1982. The example seen here is a later model based on 1982 Collector Edition Corvette.
One of the draws of SEMA is that you know you are going to see some cool custom cars and in our opinion, one of the best custom vettes on display at this year’s show was Rod Saboury’s 1963 Split Window Corvette he calls “Black Widow”. If Rod’s name rings a bell, it’s because Saboury was also the man behind the World’s fastest street Legal 1963 Corvette drag car which we featured just last month.
