The 88-year old driver of this “Little Red Corvette” lost control on a rain-soaked road in Green Valley, Arizona last week. The Corvette bounced off the median, spun around and jumped the curb before it came to rest in a KFC parking lot, hitting a light pole which fell over on a van.
A Friday afternoon crash sent the driver of this 1987 Corvette to the hospital. The man was driving near Tiverton, RH when his Corvette left the road and went into a swampy area, rolled on its roof and trapped the driver under it.
You might call it the battle of the GM cars, but in this case, there were no winners. A red C5 Corvette is now missing a few parts after a two-car collision on Long Island in Nassau County, N.Y., on Feb. 10.
Our friends at Jalopnik bring us the unfortunate story of a crash at this past weekend’s Cars and Coffee gathering in Dallas. Autocrossing your Corvette is great way to have some fun in your car in a safe and controlled environment. Most courses are laid out to keep speeds down and drivers rely on technique to complete the course. But just because speeds are lower than other track events doesn’t mean that one wrong move can come back to bite you as one Corvette driver found out at the Speed Ventures autocross event.
Apparently this video went viral while I was incommunicado over the Thanksgiving holiday. Two Silver Corvettes, a C6 and C5, were lined up at a stop light in the Houston neighborhood of The Woodlands. The motorist behind the duo gets a bad feeling about what is going to happen when the lights go green and starts filming. Sure enough, the race ends badly for both drivers and cars and now police have issued warrants for their arrest.
This modified Corvette may or may not be one of the 6,502 original Indy 500 Pace Car replicas built in 1978, but it certainly took the brunt when rear ended by a semi truck in Boise, Idaho.
