Two things in life are said to be certain: death and taxes.

Apparently the latter part of that saying applies even if you’re a Corvette Club that’s just raising money for charity.

That’s what officials with the 2015 Mississippi Corvette Classic car show in Jackson were shocked to find out recently for the first time.

The GoldTour has been one of the marquee events of Bloomington Gold for many years now. Each Saturday night of the Bloomington Weekend thousands of Corvettes gather for a Corvette parade through the countryside surrounding the show’s location. Due to logistics, though, it’s rarely been able to stage and leave from the actual show location – until this year.

Last weekend Bloomington Gold completed its rookie orientation at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A couple of soggy days couldn’t dampen spirits at the show’s 2nd new location in the last 3 years.

Corvettes Heading to Flint Michigan for Back to the Bricks Reunion

Flint, Michigan’s Back to the Bricks festival started as a one-day throwback to the cruises of the 1950s and a smaller alternative to the congestion of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit.

Now the Flint event has grown so much that it drew more than 400,000 to last year’s festival.

Flint has special meaning for Corvette enthusiasts since the city is the birthplace of America’s sports car, with the first 300 1953 models being built at a factory off Van Slyke Avenue there. In fact, the first one rolled off the assembly line on June 19, 1953.
