At the end of every production year, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant posts a list of “Options Penetration” showing how many of each type of Corvette, color and options were built so that new Corvette owners could try to figure out how rare their car may be.
Even though that list isn’t out yet, we do have some preliminary data that we would like to share as part of our farewell to the C6 Corvette!
One of the biggest upgrades to the new 2014 Corvette Stingray is without a doubt the new seats. Finally realizing that there isn’t a one-seat-fits-all option, Chevrolet is now offering two styles of seats in the new Corvette. The GT seat is the standard seat and provides all-around comfort while the Competition Sport seat has a more aggressive side bolstering which provides greater support on the track.

It’s been a little while since we’ve done a poll so let’s get to it. The question today has to do with the official reveal of the C7 Corvette this Sunday evening. Assuming that only one C7 Corvette will be on the stage when the curtain is lifted, what do you think the color will be? We’ll use 2013′s colors and substitute the now retired Supersonic Blue and Inferno Orange for a generic “other”. Ready to play?
As we get closer to end of the end of the 2012 model year Corvette, details on the 2013 Corvette are still emerging. One of those details is that a new shade of blue will be coming to the 2013 Corvette and its name is “Midnight Race Blue”.
The retirement of Jetstream Blue Metallic in 2011 leaves the door open for GM to offer a new color for the 2012 Corvette and today we are pleased to bring you its replacement: Carlisle Blue Metallic. The new color is an existing Chevy color called “Ice Blue Metallic” and can be seen on the 2011 Cruze. We think the color reminds us of the 1982 color called Silver Blue Metallic or the Light Blue Metallic offered in 1984-85.
Well, it looks like you can write off Cyber Gray, Crystal Red and Jetstream Blue as colors available for the 2011 Corvette. Jetstream Blue was already being phased out of this year’s remaining 2011 production, but the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan has affected several other colors that have automakers scrambling. And now we are hearing that customers with existing Corvette orders in the system are being asked to choose new colors.
Last time we were on the subject of Corvettes painted green, we were talking Dark Bowling Green Metallic and the color similar to that which was featured on the Allstate 400 Corvette Grand Sport that ran at the Brickyard a couple weekends ago. Well, today we’re going to take you the opposite direction with a color so green, you’ll either love it or hate it. Here is a custom 2010 Corvette Grand Sport offered for sale by Colorado Chevy Dealer Purifoy which borrows the limited edition Synergy Green from Camaro and gets all crazy with it. You think that exterior is bold, when you see Jake embroidered on the seats, you’ll be green with envy.
