The National Corvette Museum has received its largest donation ever – a collection of 10 Corvettes in the Don Messner Collection.
Messner, who passed away in May from melanoma, wanted to inspire others to make similar donations in the future.
Some people have had car collecting in their blood ever since they can remember. Howard Weaver of Ann Arbor, Michigan is one of those people.
In fact, after 77 years of doing so, Weaver has probably been collecting cars maybe longer than anybody in the United States. A little qualifier on that status: Weaver’s dad actually is the one who paid $50 for a 1931 American Austin in 1936 when little Howard was just 6 years old. That two-passenger coupe later became Howard’s first car, and he still has it along with many other outstanding vehicles in a series of four heated barns on his property. That car was the impetus for a lifetime of collecting cars.
Last year Adam’s Polishes was named the officially licensed car care products for the Corvette and Camaro. When we heard that founder and CEO Adam Pitale would be giving a free detailing seminar on site at the Lingenfelter Collection outside Detroit, we had to add the event to our weekend agenda.
Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

Craig Jackson of Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions recently had his garage featured on the TV show “Million Dollar Rooms”, which airs on HGTV. Craig’s museum-grade circular garage at his home in Paradise Valley, Arizona is fully stocked with some of the world’s coolest and most sought-after collector cars. But in this video, it’s the space they occupy that is really the star of the show.
What happens when you love Corvettes and making motion pictures, too?
Well, you’ve probably just entered the life of Michael Brown, who has become one of the best-known and most dedicated fans of Chevrolet’s fantastic sports car over the past few years.
A couple months back we had the opportunity to tour the immense car collection of Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The diverse collection contains about 150 stunning muscle cars, exotics, classics, as well as several of LPE’s latest creations. No car collection is complete without a healthy dose of America’s sports car, and this one is no different. Roughly 40% of the grouping consists of Corvettes including some very rare ones. Check out some photos from our visit after the break.
