In just one month, classic Corvettes from across the country will converge on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL for the annual Bloomington Gold Corvette Show. Unfortunately, those looking to buy a Corvette during the annual auction will have to attend another venue as Mecum has announced they have canceled the traditional all-Corvette sale due to lack of interest.
Our friends at Zip Corvette are hosting their 3rd Annual “Cruising in the Fast Lane” car show at their headquarters in Mechanicsville, VA this Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
Over 400 Corvettes are expected to converge at Zip Corvette for a full day of fun, food and of course, Corvettes! The best news is that there is no entry or registration fee to join the fun. Just bring your Corvette. They’ll take car of the rest!
Our new best friend Gene Sanchez Leeds was in New York for the auto show and has given us permission to share his photos. We picked a set of 50 images featuring both new models of the 2015 Corvette Z06. But what you see here is only the tip of the iceberg as he has posted over 125 Corvette images on the Corvette Forum.
Chevrolet Europe posted this video yesterday showcasing Corvette and Camaro at the Geneva Motor Show.
Take a look at Chevrolet at the Geneva International Motor Show. See the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible, and the European premiere of the Corvette C7.R and the Corvette Z06, both presented at NAIAS in January. The new Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible too!

Back in the early 1970′s Hot Rod magazine was looking for a project car to go racing in. What they decided to use was a 1957 Corvette with the 270hp 283ci engine and a 3 speed transmission. Once completed they tore up west drag strips en route to national ET and speed records. After it’s short racing career, nothing much was heard of this car until it showed up last weekend at Detroit Autorama sporting a fresh frame off restoration.
Detroit Autorama takes place each year in early March. For those of us up here in the snowy Midwest, it’s the first sign that winter may actually be over and that car show season is in the near future. 2014 marked the 62nd edition of the massive indoor custom car show. Thousands of custom, restored, and original cars fill Cobo Hall each year competing for a multitude of awards. Click past the jump to see our gallery of Corvettes for the 2014 Detroit Autorama.
Back in 1990 Bloomington Gold introduced their SURVIVOR award for original, unrestored Corvettes. Award winners would need to be 20 years old, complete a short road test, and be at least 50% unrestored in 3 of 4 categories. Now, as we count down to the 2014 show, they’ve announced some sweeping changes to their SURVIVOR judging program.
Since 2009, Corvette America had been the Official Fun Field Sponsor at Carlisle but now will expand its presence by becoming the Official Presenting Partner for the 2014 event, which will be known as Corvettes at Carlisle Presented By Corvette America. The event will be held Aug. 22-24.
One of my all time favorite annual Corvette events is the NCRS Winter Regional in Kissimmee, Florida. While I love doing the stories and coverage of the new C7 Corvette Stingray and Z06, there’s just something about walking through a field literately strewn with used Corvette parts and accessories for every generation but the C7.
A special event for the veterans of the United States Armed Forces brought Corvettes and Vets together for the first annual Vettes for Veterans. This was a very humble show that offered a nice break from the major auto industry shows like the 2013 SEMA show — it almost every way, the Vettes for Veterans show on November 9th was the exact opposite of the major industry auto shows of 2013.
