One of my all time favorite annual Corvette events is the NCRS Winter Regional in Kissimmee, Florida. While I love doing the stories and coverage of the new C7 Corvette Stingray and Z06, there’s just something about walking through a field literately strewn with used Corvette parts and accessories for every generation but the C7.
You know the Corvette Z06, any red blooded auto enthusiast does! This head turning, track dominating, ultra-performance sports car has inspired both racers and the everyday Corvette lover to add a little more excitement to their lives. The unique features of the 2015 Z06 are grabbing headlines and causing many of us to check how much equity we have in our house, and it’s not even on sale yet.
However, the new Z06 isn’t the only one that’s ever made waves in the auto industry — well actually, every time a Z06 has rolled off an assembly line, it’s been a game changer in the industry. We could talk about the Z06 all day long (and what a great day that would be), but we’d rather show you the distinctions of this glorious automobile with this awesome infographic.
The curtain came down Sunday, January 19th, on the most successful Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in history. The FOX televised, eight-day event, sometimes called the “world’s greatest reality show,” was hosted in Barrett-Jackson’s brand new bricks and mortar facility with much improved space and amenities, a building that was completed in only eleven months time and completed only days before the auction start on Sunday, January 12th. Barrett-Jackson’s former main auction tent, the largest tent in the world, was connected to the new permanent auction building and created an impressive almost mile long facility from one end to the other.
Z06. One letter and two numbers that symbolize a higher level of Corvette performance.
Fifty-one years after the first Z06 Corvette was born, the option package lives on with the 2015 Corvette. Over the years there’s been an RPO Z06 in 4 of the 7 Corvette generations. Click past the jump to take a look at the significance of the Z06 moniker – past and present.
Earlier this year, the first 2014 Corvette Stingray was auctioned off at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction.
Now comes word that three very special Corvettes from the very distant past – plus a rare collectible – will be on the block at Barrett-Jackson on Jan. 18, 2014 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The four Corvettes all come from the collection of Carlisle Events co-owner Lance Miller.
This yellow C4 Corvette crashed Sunday evening into the middle of a home at Richmond Street and Ridgedale Avenue on the north side of Odessa, Texas.
The Corvette clan lost an original last month when Larry Utley of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away at age 71.
Larry had organized the Snake River Corvette Club, so after he died on Nov. 1, it was no surprise that Corvettes took up a whole block outside of his memorial service.
Calling our friends in the Great White North to be on the lookout for this blue C5 Corvette Z06 racer that was stolen from the driveway of the owner’s parents house in Waterloo, Ontario. The Corvette was parked on a trailer and attached to a truck and the thieves took all three last Friday night/Saturday morning.
Some folks might have left the police work to the professionals.
But not the owner of an Albuquerque car wash, who risked life and limb in his souped-up 2003 Corvette last Saturday to chase a bad guy who had shot police officer Matthew Hannum in the leg and then stole his cop car with the emergency lights flashing.
