We got word this evening that 1996 Corvette Grand Sport #947 was stolen out of the driveway of the owner’s house in North Miami Beach, Florida last Thursday, June 10th. Margie Love, the owner of the Corvette since new, had pulled into her driveway in her other car around 10pm and interrupted a burglary of her home. The robber(s) had found the keys to the Grand Sport and used it as a getaway car, causing a massive amount of damage in the process.

Oh No! Is SpeedRacer Selling His Mach 5 Corvette?

by Keith Cornett on June 2, 2010

Oh No! SpeedRacer is Selling is Mach 5 Corvette?

Is the economy so bad that even SpeedRacer has to part with his famous Mach 5 race car? Actually, we were tipped to this unique Corvette-based Mach 5 from a twitter user who passed by it on Ventura Boulevard where the car was on the lot of Woodland Hills Quality Motors in LA. The body style is similar to one of Mark Towle’s The Real Mach 5 replicas down to the wheels, but I couldn’t tell you if this is one of his or not. You can be SpeedRacer for just $27,995 although we are pretty sure that it doesn’t come with a monkey.

Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2010: 1990 Corvette ZR-1

The C4 version of the Corvette ZR-1 was nicknamed “The King of the Hill” for good reason. At a time when the standard Corvette’s horsepower was 245, the 1990 Corvette ZR-1 was powered by the new 375-horsepower LT-5 V8 which featured a 32-valve dual overhead cam. Looking back today, Corvette’s return to the world stage of sports car performance can be directly attributed to this special edition.

Bloomington 2009: Twin-Turbo 1991 Corvette Callaway Speedster Sells for $115,000

One of more interesting time periods for Corvette came midway through the C4 production run when you could order a twin-turbo for your Corvette. In 1991, the B2K twin-turbo RPO was the only non-GM performance option that could be ordered on a Corvette. This limited edition 1991 Series 1 Corvette Callaway Speedster is #8 of 10 made and used to be part of the Otis Chandler collection before being acquired by Chevrolet dealer and Corvette collector Bob McDorman.

Corvette Values: 1989 Coupe

by Keith Cornett on August 15, 2005

LD of Midway, GA submitted the following to Corvette Values:

1989 White Coupe. VIN: 1G1YY2188K5106318. 113K Miles, Non original motor with 7K miles L98 350 ci engine, automatic transmission. Tan interior, cloth seats. Power Steering, Brakes and Windows. Condition is average/street driven.

This 89 Coupe is one of 16,663 Coupes built and was assembled early on based on the VIN. Considered to be in good street driven condition, it has 113K original miles. Powered by the non-original 350-240 motor, it has an auto transmission as did over 22,000 Corvettes made that year. White was the second most popular color ordered (5,426) and the saddle cloth interior was a rare choice with only 400 ordered with this option in 1989. The Corvette is equipped with the standard power options including power steering, brakes and windows. Our value for this Corvette is $11,000. Our Corvette Price Database shows a one year depreciation in price to be 1% which may indicate the 1989 Corvette Coupe will soon start to appreciate in value over the next few years.
