Mrs. Harley J. Earl's 1963 Corvette to be Offered at Mecum Kissimmee

Most Corvette enthusiasts are probably aware of the 1963 Corvette built for GM’s design boss Harley Earl. The blue roadster has traded hands a couple of times in recent years most recently selling for $1.5 million in October 2013. But did you know that GM also built a special car at the same time for his wife, Sue? The pink 1963 coupe hasn’t been seen in nearly 40 years, and it’s being sold at Mecum Kissimmee sale later this month.

The Earliest Known 1963 Corvette Sting Ray

Back in 2006 and 2007 ProTeam Corvette Sales purchased, restored, and sold the last 1967 Corvette produced. The Last Sting Ray fetched $660,000 at the 2007 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction and was the subject of a series on SPEED.

Proteam has an article on their website about the very first Corvette Sting Ray, a silver 1963 coupe built under a Shop Order in 1962. The has car spent its entire life in Europe and has been rarely seen. Its last 30 years have been spent in a private collection. Lance Miller to Sell Several Collectible Corvettes at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale Auction

Earlier this year, the first 2014 Corvette Stingray was auctioned off at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction.

Now comes word that three very special Corvettes from the very distant past – plus a rare collectible – will be on the block at Barrett-Jackson on Jan. 18, 2014 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The four Corvettes all come from the collection of Carlisle Events co-owner Lance Miller.

'Ordinary' 1964 Corvette Sting Ray Transformed Into Award Winning Restomod

More than a year of work has transformed this once-ordinary 1964 Corvette coupe into a prize-winning restomod, says owner Patrick Lamberton of Chalfont, Bucks County, PA.

Modifications include a 2013 Chevy fuel-injected LS3 engine, good for 436 horsepower, as well as suspension upgrades from a 1996 Corvette in the front and a 1986 Corvette in the rear. Lamberton says The Vette Shop in Plumsteadville, Pa., performed the drive train and suspension changes.

The Mecum Auctions’ 2013 US tour stops in Anaheim, California this weekend. The 3-day extravaganza gets underway Thursday, November 21st at the Anaheim Convention Center. The action will run through Saturday, November 23rd until all of the nearly 700 cars have rolled across the auction block.
