Members of Bowling Green’s United Auto Workers Local 2164 voted overwhelming to authorize a strike if their concerns over safety and quality aren’t addressed by General Motors and plant management. UAW chapter President Eldon Renaud said the vote passed with 93.3% approval.

Alleging that workers are being mistreated and management isn’t addressing problems with quality and safety, the United Auto Workers Local 2164 has scheduled a strike vote on Tuesday at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
More approval by a governmental agency came speeding down the straightaway for the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park last week.
After hearing Wendell Strode, executive director of the museum, explain that the museum has “gone above and beyond” with its plans, the City-County Planning Commission gave its OK to a detailed development plan Thursday for the motorsports park.
The sudden retirement of Dave Tatman at the Corvette Assembly Plant leaves some mighty large shoes to fill. Dave was very passionate about the Corvette and he always had time to talk with us about what was happening at the plant.
We had heard Jeffery Lamarche’s name as a possible replacement and this afternoon at the NCM press conference regarding the sinkhole situation, we learned that it’s now official. Jeffrey Lamarche will be taking the reins as the new plant manager.
During last April’s Bash at the National Corvette Museum, my 14-year-old son and I met Corvette Assembly Plant Manager Dave Tatman for the first time.
Despite not knowing us from Adam, he took several minutes of his time during a very busy period to talk with us about the new C7 Corvette and even gave us his card, complete with his contact information.
Sadly, Mr. Tatman announced Tuesday that he has decided to retire from General Motors after 34 years, effective March 1.
GM was forced to idle several production facilities on Wednesday including the Corvette Assembly Plant. The plant shutdown was due to the extreme winter weather in much of the country which has delayed the delivery of essential parts to the Bowling Green facility.
The new Corvette Stingray has been earning accolades from the press ever since it was unveiled earlier this year.
It’s only natural that the General Motors Assembly Plant in Bowling Green where America’s Sports Car has been built since 1981 would share in that glory, too.
Earlier this month the Bowling Green Assembly Plant was named Manufacturer of the Year by the Kentucky Association for Manufacturers (KAM) at the 2013 KAM Manufacturer and Employee of the Year Awards ceremony.
Earlier this week we had the privilege to tour the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, KY to see how the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray is made. While we were there, we spoke with plant manager Dave Tatman about the changes to the plant, C7 production, quality assessments and resumption of public tours which begin on October 14th.
Chevrolet announced on Wednesday that Bowling Green’s Corvette Assembly Plant will resume public tours of the facility beginning Monday, October 14th. The tours give Corvette enthusiasts and the general public an up-close opportunity to see how the all-new C7 Corvette Stingray is built.

This day has been a long time coming for Nick George.
Now in his 30s, George started saving for a Corvette when he was just 5 years old. That dedication to Chevrolet’s sports car was rewarded today when he and his wife, Valerie, became the first customers to take delivery of a new Stingray at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.
