The First 2015 Corvette Z06s Are Now being Shipped to Customers

It appears that Chevrolet is happy with the start of production of the C7 Corvette Z06 – so much so that that customer cars have started to ship to customers from the assembly plant in Bowling Green.

When the Stingray was launched last year, Chevrolet delayed the shipping as the automaker pursued an aggressive quality assessment regiment to insure everything was just right and some customer cars were held well over a month. Now, just three weeks after the start of production, the all-new Corvette Z06s are on their way to dealers and the Corvette Museum for customer delivery.

Bowling Green Named a Top 10 All-American City by National Geographic

The new Corvette Stingray has been racking up award after award in the past couple of years.

Now the city where the seventh-generation Chevrolet sports car is assembled is finally getting some much-deserved recognition, too.

National Geographic has named Bowling Green, Ky., a Top 10 All-American City in its new book World’s Best Cities: Celebrating 220 Great Destinations because of the Corvette-related attractions there, including the Corvette Assembly Plant, National Corvette Museum, and NCM Motorsports Park.

The First Retail 2015 Corvette Z06 Has been Built and Other Corvette Production News

This week marks a special milestone for the 2015 Corvette Z06. The Corvette Assembly Plant just completed its first retail production of the new 650 horsepower Z06, a Black coupe that will go to Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick.

Earlier this year, Hendrick paid one million dollars at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach to own the first retail VIN of the Corvette Z06 with the proceeds of that sale going to charity.

A crew filmed for four days at the Corvette Plant, and one day at the Museum recently to create the program. The 30 minute show on the Corvette will air for the first time this evening, October 2, at 10 pm EST. A replay will be available on Friday morning at 11:00 am ET as well.

OFFICIAL: GM Production of 2014 Corvette Stingrays Totals 37,288

Earlier this month we ballparked 2014 Corvette Stingray production at just over 36,500 units which takes into account the 35,523 known VINs plus an additional 1,050 for the Premiere Editions.

But we were too low in our estimate.

GM officially revealed at last weekend’s Corvettes at Carlisle show that 37,288 Corvettes were built during the 2014 model year.

A Group of Aspiring Engineers Visits the Corvette Assembly Plant

Who knows? Perhaps one of the college students who recently took part in a unique learning experience at the Corvette Assembly Plant will come back one day and help General Motors design its C8 or C9 Corvette.

The aspiring engineers – members of the National Society of Black Engineers – belong to three chapters of NSBE at University of Tennessee-Knoxville, University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign, and University of Pittsburgh.
