We’ve finally reached the end of a frenzied month of collector car auctions in Florida and Arizona. Our DVR is still smoldering from the 72 hours of recording over the last couple of weeks. Since Top 10 lists can be a little cliché, we’ve sifted through all of the results and compiled a list of the top 11 January Corvette sales.
With much fanfare, the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition with the 60th Anniversary package drove up on the Barrett-Jackson auction block Saturday afternoon and was hammered sold for $600,000. Minutes later it was annouced that William Vannoy, the losing bidder in the auction, had also donated $100,000 to the sale to bring the total amount raised for charity to $700,000. Buying the rights to buy the VIN 001 2013 Corvette was Barrett-Jackson regular Ron Pratte.
As time ticks down to the sale of the first 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible at Barrett-Jackson this Saturday, interested buyers and enthusiasts alike are able to get up close and personal with the new car which is set up at the Chevrolet display. Our friend Chris Draper was in Scottsdale yesterday to take in Barrett-Jackson and provides these pictures of the 60th Anniversary car on display along with a first-year 1953 Corvette.
The annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction spectacle gets underway this week with over 100 Corvettes offered on the 6-day long sales docket. As always, SPEED will have 39 hours of live coverage of the event starting Tuesday, January 17th.
The consignment team at Barrett-Jackson has assembled a diverse selection of America’s sports car for 2012. In addition the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation 1969 coupe and the first saleable VIN 2013 427 convertible, there’s everything from low-mile originals to ultra-modified cars for bidders to choose from.
Chevrolet’s fastest Corvette drop top, the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible, will be the talk of the internet today as it well should be. Somewhat buried in the press release is that the very first saleable Corvette 427 wearing what we assume will be VIN 001 is scheduled to be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s collector car auction in Scottsdale next weekend.
The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation is going for the Gold at this year’s Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. For the third year in a row, the Foundation will be running a Corvette through the high profile auction with proceeds going towards finding a cure for amyloidosis – the rare disease that took the life of Corvettes at Carlisle co-founder Chip Miller.
The month of January means one thing to avid car collectors – the January auctions. Each year thousands of eager buyers and sellers convene on Arizona and Florida to take in all of the intense auction action. Lot# 3040… It doesn’t sound like much but you never can tell.
While looking through the lists of cars going through the Barrett-Jackson auction next week, I saw a big Chevrolet Bowtie where there should be a picture of a car for Lot# 3040. This, of course, got my attention right away so I had to read further…
The 4th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector car auction in Las Vegas concluded Saturday night with 46 Corvettes crossing the auction block over the 3-day sale. The Sales for Corvettes totaled $2,549,250 which includes the 10% buyer’s commission. Check out the top sellers of the auction as well as the full results following the jump.
The Barrett-Jackson crew sets up shop in Sin City this weekend for their 4th annual Las Vegas sale. Nearly 50 Corvettes are set to cross the auction block between Thursday September 22nd and Saturday the 24th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino as their 40th Anniversary tour winds down.
