Once again Chevrolet has chosen “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction”, Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale flagship event to offer their first retail production 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible. Over the last several years Barrett-Jackson has been Chevrolet’s choice to showcase the crown jewel of their model line-up by offering VIN 001 of a new model Corvette to benefit various charities. According to Gary Bennett, vice president of consignments at Barrett Jackson, the beneficiary of the 2015 Z06 Convertible proceeds will be the United Way of Michigan.
We already recapped the auction of the VIN 001 2015 Corvette Stingray equipped with an 8-Speed Automatic transmission that was sold on Friday night at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas sale. Chevy dealer and Corvette collector Dave Ressler spent $400,000 to own the car and the proceeds of the sale went to CARE House of Oakland County.

The first retail 2015 Corvette Stingray with VIN 001 crossed the auction block Friday night at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas sale inside the Mandalay Bay Casino. The Arctic White Corvette, which comes equipped with the all new 8-speed automatic transmission, saw steady bidding throughout the sale which was broadcast nationwide on FoxSports2. The hammer dropped with the high bid of $400,000 and winning the car was Chevrolet dealer and Corvette collector Dave Ressler.

Barrett-Jackson will be offering the numerically significant Stingray at its upcoming auction in Las Vegas Sept. 25-27. This particular car is slated to be sold at approximately 6 p.m. on Sept. 26.
For a Corvette seller and a Corvette buyer, the Lucky Collector Car Auction held this past August 30 & 31 just outside of Tacoma, Washington was appropriately named. The lucky seller went home with a large check while the lucky buyer is the new owner of a numbers matching 1963 Corvette fuelie roadster.
If you’re looking for originality, uniqueness, and rarity, then this 1967 Corvette COPO convertible might be for you.
In case you’re not familiar with COPO, it stands for Central Office Production Order. Basically, it allowed Chevrolet top dogs and a few dealers to order new vehicles with special features not usually found on the ordinary production vehicles.
This particular Corvette is one of only five known to be painted with Silver Pearl exterior paint and a red interior, a combo not available to ordinary folks.
The team at Mecum Auctions recently announced that the “Black Corvette L88 once owned by Tony DeLorenzo will cross the block at Mecum!”
If you closely follow the blue chip Corvette market you probably think they were talking about the black 1967 L88 Corvette raced by Tony DeLorenzo and sold by Mecum in 2011. That car was the first documented Corvette L88 ever produced and it sold for $1.25M to Terry Michaelis whose intent was to return the car to its race delivery.
But Mecum’s recent announcement is not about that car, it is announcing the sale of another important L88, DeLorenzo’s triple black 1969 personal driver which will be offered in Mecum’s Dallas auction September 3rd through 6th.
The Mecum Dallas auction has become one of the premier auctions in the world for offering important and historic Chevrolet Corvettes. This year’s event is no exception and in addition to DeLorenzo’s L88 has several other excellent Corvettes crossing the block from blue chip collectibles to restomods.

This Saturday, Aug. 16 between approximately 8:18 and 8:38 p.m. at Russo and Steele’s 14th Annual Monterey California Auction, Number 149 out of the initial run of 300 1953 Corvettes will be offered without reserve. The highest bidder will take this classic Corvette home!
No less an expert than the NCRS National Judging Chairman Roy Sinor chose this car nine years ago for a collector who asked him to find the best L88 he could.
Sinor settled on this 1969 L88 Stingray after it had undergone a two-year rotisserie restoration finished in 2005 and gave it 94 points out of a possible 100.
