Corvettes on eBay: The Force is With This Star Wars Themed 1974 Corvette

Back in 1977, a young filmmaker named George Lucas changed pop culture forever with the release of the first Star Wars movie. That film not only ushered in cool special effects, it set the standard (in the immortal words of Spaceball’s Mel Brooks) for movie merchandising and soon Star Wars branded toys and accessories were everywhere.

Obviously, the first Star Wars movie made an impact on the former owner and creator of this special 1974 Corvette which showcases many scenes from the movie with hand airbrushed murals painted on every body panel.

With the next installment of the movie franchise due in December 2015, it’s timely that this Star Wars branded Corvette Stingray is now for sale on eBay.

Mecum to Auction John Greenwood's Spirit of Sebring '75 Corvette Racecar

John Greenwood’s recent passing should make this 1974 Greenwood Corvette chassis number 002 even more desirable at the upcoming August Mecum auction.

Number 002, also known as the “Spirit of Sebring ’75,” has a tremendous amount of history behind it, including the fact that it was John Greenwood’s personal favorite.

Greenwood made only six of his wide-body race machines, and this example is the only one that was raced as a Greenwood “team” entry, with the others being built for customers.

RM Sotheby's Offering Zora Duntov's 1960 CERV 1 at Monterey Auction

If there’s ever been a priceless Corvette, then the 1960 Chevrolet CERV 1 may be it.

But someone will pay a price, likely an astronomical price, at the upcoming RM Sotheby’s auction in Monterey 2015 set for Aug. 13-15, where the current owner is putting the CERV 1 up for sale. (CERV stands for Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle.)

Corvette Auction Preview: Mecum Denver

Dana Mecum and the staff from Mecum Auctions are in Denver, CO. this week for a two-day sale featuring 700 vehicles which include 45 Corvettes ranging from a 1957 Roadster to a 2011 Corvette Z06 tuned by Lingenfelter. We turned to our friend Marshall Fancher of Vette-N-Vestments for a preview of the auction and he provided us with the run list as well as some of the cars he would like to bring home if money wasn’t an object.

Corvettes on eBay: Untitled 1996 Corvette Grand Sport with 480 Miles

When it comes to Corvette icons, one of the most historic names has been Grand Sport.

After a long hiatus after the original five 1963 Grand Sports were secretly produced by Zora and crew, the name lay in rest until the end of the C4 generation when Chevy revived it for one year in 1996. Then with the C6, Chevy brought it back from 2010 to 2013, turning the Grand Sport into sort of a “Z06 Lite” and proving that the name still carried clout as that version dominated sales of the Corvette during those four years.

Most C4 Corvettes don’t get much respect in the market these days, but for fans of that generation, the Grand Sport (at least the convertible version) is probably the best investment you can make right now – perhaps better than the legendary ZR-1.

And right now on eBay, you can buy what looks to be a great example of a Grand Sport Coupe that is essentially a brand new Corvette with just 479 miles showing on the odometer.
