It’s time for the final segment in the Corvette Generations video series. Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles is at the Corvette Time Line display at Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise and he takes us through some of the biggest (and lightest) changes that occurred during production of the C6 Corvette generation that started in 2005 and ends in 2013.
One of the hardest working vendors you will see at a major Corvette show are the guys from Adam’s Premium Car Care Products. Every time we walked by their booth at Corvettes at Carlisle, they had a different Corvette parked in front and several detailers hard at work demonstrating Adam’s products to the assembled crowds.
We caught up with Adam Pitale, founder and President of Adam’s, who was very excited to tell us about their exclusive line of car care products branded and endorsed by GM for the Corvette and Camaro. So we tagged along and had the opportunity to see some of them demonstrated to members of GM’s Corvette Team.
Former Corvette Racing driver Andy Pilgrim is in Bowling Green, KY this weekend for his induction into the National Corvettes Museum’s Corvette Hall of Fame. When he arrived at the Museum, he was greeted by this 427 Convertible that pays tribute to the driver’s service to Corvette.
Members of General Motor’s Corvette Team once again came to Carlisle, PA for the annual Corvettes at Carlisle Show and gave their annual “What’s New with Corvette” seminar.
Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter started off with the walk-around before turning it over to Dave Tatman, the Corvette Assembly Plant Manager. Also talking 2013 Corvettes were Harlan Charles, Corvette’s Product Marketing Manager and Kirk Bennion, Corvette’s Exterior Design Engineer. The Seminar took just a little more than 20 minutes to cover the latest and final Corvette models of the C6 era but it was well worth it and very informative to all those that were there.
As presenting sponsor of the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise, Chevrolet celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Corvette by showcasing a special timeline featuring milestone models of America’s Sports throughout its storied history.
The Corvette timeline was segmented by the six generations of Corvettes and the board behind the cars listed the significant developments that occurred during those years. Most of the Corvettes featured in the timeline came from the GM Heritage Center but there were also a lot of 2013 Corvettes on display as well.
General Motors released the July 2012 sales report this week and the data shows 987 Corvettes were delivered during the month. This is a huge decline from June 2012 where 1,475 Corvettes found new homes, however it was somewhat expected with the extended July shutdown at the assembly plant.
Comparing July 2012 sales to July 2011′s number of 1,291 Corvettes sold, deliveries are off a whopping -23.5%. For the calendar year to date, a total of 8,009 Corvettes have been sold which is pacing -2.2% off of 2011′s CYTD 8,187 sales figure.
Fresh off the successful launch of their 25th Anniversary B2K Corvettes, one of which we showed you from last month’s Bloomington Gold Show, Callaway Cars is back to show off their version of the all new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible. If Chevy is calling the production 427 Convertible the fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette’s history – just imagine the fun you would have with the supercharged 652 horsepower Callaway 427 Convertible.
Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter recently turned the tables on one of the media.
After answering questions like he usually does, Tadge came up with one of his own and asked Autoweek writer Dale Jewett a jewel of a question: “What would you change for the next Corvette?”
