Yesterday we began our preview of Mecum’s Kissimmee sale with Lot # W207, a very unique 1991 coupe. Today we continue with our Thursday featured Corvette, Lot # T218: a stunning, low mile 1956 Roadster. Beginning Wednesday, January 26th and ending on the 30th over 150 Corvettes will cross the block in search of new homes at Mecum’s annual January event.

As we begin to catch our breath after nearly a week of Barrett-Jackson mania it’s time to focus on the last, and largest of the January classic car auctions – Mecum’s annual Kissimmee, Florida sale. Beginning Wednesday, January 26th and ending on the 30th, over 150 Corvettes will cross the block in search of new homes.

The Corvette Museum’s Motorsport Park project got a shot in the arm on Friday night following the sale of the 2011 Le Mans Anniversary Corvette Z06 at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. The sale of the White/Blue one-off VIN #001 Corvette Z06 for $210,000 to NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick was probably a little lower than what the NCM was looking for, but every little bit helps!

Barrett-Jackson 2011: Rare 1971 LS6 To Cross Auction Block on Saturday

Our final preview of select Barrett-Jackson Corvettes ends with Lot #1256. This rare 1971 LS6 Coupe will cross the block on Saturday, January 22nd live on Speed TV. An LS6 Corvette is more rare than a L88 equipped Corvette. Only 188 cars escaped St. Louis with the 425hp, 454 CI motor compared to 216 L88’s.

Barrett-Jackson 2011: 1967 Survivor Corvette to be Sold on Friday

Our 2011 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Corvette preview switches generations now to focus on Lot #1010.2, an unrestored, highly awarded 1967 convertible. Big block C2’s are no strangers to the B-J stage. We see numerous finely restored examples cross their brightly lit auction block at each event. What sets this ’67 apart from the others are its low miles, well preserved condition, and multiple judging awards. We’ll watch this roadster cross the auction block on Friday night, January 21st on Speed TV.

Each year in early January the auto industry descends upon snowy Detroit to kick off the annual car show season. Automakers from around the world debut new models, special editions, and future technologies. This year’s show featured roughly 40 new vehicle introductions as the auto industry continues to recover from the events of the last couple of years. Over 700,000 people will visit Detroit’s Cobo Center over the course of the 9 public show days.

A very cool new incentive to help boost Corvette sales was being by touted by several dealers over the weekend. With a purchase of any new 2010 or 2011 Corvette (coupe, convertible, Grand Sport or Z06), you will receive the complimentary two-day ZR1 Driving School at either Bondurant’s School of High Performance Driving or the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at Spring Mountain. Buyers of the ZR1 already get the two-day driving class so if you buy a new ZR1 during this incentive period, you’ll receive a complimentary third day. Car and Driver Lightning Lap Features New 2011 Z07-Equipped Corvette Z06

For the past five years, Car and Driver magazine has featured an annual time trial competition at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) where cars are pitted against one another based on selling price. There are five classes and Corvettes can be found in both the LL2 class ($30,000-$60,000) and LL3 class ($60,000-$120,000). This latest test featured the new 2011 Corvette Z06 which was equipped with the Z07 package.
